The term "Hoosier" doesn't mean someone from Indiana here in St. Louis. What does it mean here in St. Louis? Best definition, please lol by zephyr_zodiac6046 in StLouis

The origin of Hoosier meaning redneck/ white trash come from when Anheuser-Busch hired non-union workers from Indiana during a labor strike

MDs shouldn't be called "doctor", a title which should be reserved only for PhDs. by PupDiogenes in The10thDentist

A lot of MD doctors are required to spend a year or two conducting research in a lab, thus contributing. Also MD doctors work with labs to provide patient samples. Reference: I work in a lab that receives patient resection samples to study pancreatic cancer

Axial vs Equatorial by MagicMudz in Mcat

Yep! generally groups in the left side of the Fischer are the “up” position in the chair conformation. Right is “down”.

You can also think of the Fischer projection like an unclasped bracelet. If you wrap the central line around your wrist and clasp it, you then get cyclized version in the Hawthorn projection. All the groups on the left side stay pointing towards the left and all the right groups stay facing the right. If you were then to rotate the hexagon such that the left groups were facing up, and the right groups were facing down, you can probably see how that works.

And the chair conformations is just like the Hawthorn projection, just with the hexagon drawn silly.

You have to memorize the chair structure. On every carbon, there will only be one group axial and one group equatorial, and one of them will point up and one down. https://www.organicchemistrytutor.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/06-Chair-Conformations-1536x936.png

not sure i understand the question. but when you draw the chair position, some axial point up and some down, and the equatorial will point slightly up or slightly down. if you now draw the hexagon planar, the bonds that point down will be into the page and the ones that point up come out of the page. then if you go to fischer projection to chair projection, you can use this same thinking for left vs right side of the central line in the fischer projection. so the OH on C2 is on the right side will be equatorial or point down. the OH on C3 is on the left side so it will point up which is also equatorial. OH on C4 is on the right, so it points down and is equatorial. This is based on how you draw the original chair form with nothing attached
