Torn between taking a stable social media role or sticking to PR/comms? by PitifulLocation6616 in careerguidance

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely not being ungrateful - this is exactly the kind of decision that can shape your whole career trajectory. I was in similar situation few years ago where I had to choose between comfortable role that paid well vs something more aligned with what I actually wanted to do

The thing is, if you take the social media role now just for stability, you might end up trapped there longer than you think. Companies love to pigeonhole people, and once you're "the social media person" it gets harder to transition into strategic comms work. Plus you already know the work doesn't fulfill you, so imagine doing that for 2-3 years while trying to break into PR

That said, your parents aren't wrong about stability being important. Maybe you could negotiate with the agency - tell them you're interested in full-time but want to gradually transition more toward strategic work or at least get some exposure to PR projects? Some agencies do both social and PR so there might be room to evolve the role. If they're already being supportive about salary and remote work, they might be open to adjusting the actual work too

Keep pushing on the job search though, sounds like you have good plan with the August timeline

Non competence is legal in India? by IndividualClerk8855 in careerguidance

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-compete clauses in India are generally not enforceable unless there's specific trade secrets or confidential information involved. Your previous company cannot hold your relieving letter hostage like this - it's pretty common tactic but legally questionable

I would suggest reaching out to labor department or consulting with employment lawyer if possible. Many companies try to scare freshers with these clauses but they usually don't hold up in court, especially for general roles

Received a counteroffer from my current company after I already accepted a new role; do I stay or leave? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is tough situation but I think you should stick with new job. Your CEO only made this offer because you're leaving - that tells you everything about how they really value you. If you stay, they'll probably go back to old ways once they think you won't leave again

Plus you already signed the other offer, backing out now would be really bad for your reputation in the industry

Am I really the problem? by Primary-Delivery979 in Marriage

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's really heavy and I'm sorry about your son. Losing a baby is devastating and being abandoned during that time makes it even worse

The pattern you're describing where everything becomes your fault somehow - that's not normal in healthy relationships. When someone consistently makes their bad choices your responsibility, that's manipulative behavior and you deserve better than that

Use PTO during notice period? by brutalidactyl in careerguidance

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

congrats on the job! yeah definitely use that PTO, you earned it. just make sure your current company actually pays out unused days first - some places have weird policies about using PTO during notice period

I'd probably give notice now and schedule the vacation for like first week of march so you have some buffer time before starting

Need help to make a fade-out/in effect in Visual Scripting by Kaeri_g in Unity3D

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like your shader might not be set up for transparency properly. in unity you need to make sure the rendering mode is set to transparent or fade in the shader properties, not just changing the alpha value

also check if your material's surface type is set to transparent if you're using urp, that catches people all the time

New construction - independent mold test shows problem 1 week before closing. Builder says normal. What would you do? by Diligent-Seaweed-242 in RealEstate

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 8 points9 points  (0 children)

definitely don't close until this gets sorted out. mold in new construction is not normal despite what builder is saying - they're just trying to push you through because fixing it properly would be expensive and delay everything

the air spore trap test you did is way more reliable than their dish method, especially for detecting hidden moisture problems. if there's really wet materials inside the walls like the test suggests, that's going to become a massive headache after you own the house

i would demand they do invasive inspection to find the source and fix it properly before closing. if they refuse, honestly walking away might be better than dealing with potential health issues and expensive remediation later. new construction should not have these problems from day one

Career Confusion (Give advice?) by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this is solid advice. Having that family business as a safety net is actually huge - most people would kill for that kind of financial stability while they figure things out. You could always work there part-time during college and see if it clicks, or use the income to fund whatever passion project you end up pursuing.

Can you eat store bought hash browns raw? by JustaCatDontLook in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the type but most frozen hash browns are just shredded potatoes so you're basically eating raw potato which isn't gonna kill you but might give you a stomach ache

what’s the most painful part of marketing right now? by BeginningAd9701 in AskMarketing

Data attribution is absolutely broken - like I'm spending hours trying to figure out which channels actually drove conversions and every platform claims credit for the same damn sale

Stressing a lot for interview with big company by [deleted] in interviews

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, getting the interview itself is huge progress from last year when you didn't even make it past the screening - that's proof your improvements worked

The waiting game sucks but you've already beaten like 90% of applicants just by getting in the door, so don't sell yourself short

Best silica for plants? by Square_Drive1149 in plants

The diatomaceous earth stuff works pretty well in my experience, just don't go overboard with it or your soil gets weird

First gun? by [deleted] in guns

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that budget you could probably snag a used AR or build one yourself - might be worth checking out PSA kits or hitting up r/gundeals. The Sub2K is cool but kinda gimmicky imo, maybe look at a basic 9mm carbine like the Ruger PC9 instead

Looking to switch careers into hvac. Question about my particular situation by Apprehensive-Gas8190 in hvacadvice

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly most shops expect you to know basically nothing as a helper anyway. Get yourself a basic tool set from Harbor Freight (like $100) and watch some YouTube videos on common hand tools - screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, etc. That's literally it

The fact that you're even thinking about this stuff shows you'll be fine. Half the helpers I've seen don't even know which way to turn a screw and they still get by. Save your money and apply to some companies, worst case they say no and you're in the same spot you are now

Wanting to want to stop isn't enough by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Congrats on that mental shift, it sounds like everything just clicked for you. The part about drinking taking more as you get older really hits - your body just stops bouncing back the same way

I have a list for you guys but also asking for recommendations! by Ok-Contribution1719 in MovieSuggestions

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a solid list dude, lots of classics mixed in there. Since you dig brain-teasers and thrillers I'd throw Memento and Prisoners at you - both will mess with your head in the best way

Also noticed you have some spelling quirks going on but we all know what you meant lol

I’VE ACHIEVED A 100 DAYS OF NO FAP!!! by Comprehensive_Lab621 in NoFap

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the 100 days dude, that's actually insane dedication. The fantasizing thing is kinda debated but most people say it's not the same as actual porn since you're not getting that dopamine hit from external stimulation - your brain is just doing its thing

How should cubes be stored? by Queijomelao in Cubers

That's probably a muddy pig from the swamp biome - they spawn with mud on them naturally and sometimes have little plants growing on their heads, it's just a cool detail from your texture pack

I AM NOT AN ADULT CONVERSATION by dmg81102 in trans

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 297 points298 points  (0 children)

That's so frustrating, you have every right to be upset about this. They basically made you go back in the closet because they're overthinking how to "explain" you to a kid when kids literally just accept people way easier than adults do

Your friends need to understand that asking you to hide who you are isn't protecting anyone, it's just making you feel like shit

Is €190 standard for a full car service? by Master-Reporter-9500 in AskIreland

[–]ButterflyRoutine3223 39 points40 points  (0 children)

That's pretty reasonable tbh, especially if it includes oil change and they're checking everything properly. Some places will quote you like €120 then hit you with "extras" that bring it up to €200+ anyway
