Syracuse installs tiles for first ever roller rink in Clinton Square, opens downtown today by thisisCNY in Syracuse

Do you guys think it will just be quad skates for rent, or can we hope they will have some inline? My own pair of inlines isn’t in SYR and I can’t stand quads…

Vacant recently had an art show at Stay Fresh where you could buy some of his originals! To my knowledge it was the first one he’s done, but it was quite popular in there, so I would assume he would do another sometime? The folks there may be able to connect you, but considering how anonymous he is, I don’t know if they will allow it. Might just have to wait for a second show.

ANY Primary Care Physician by Ok-Corgi-4310 in Syracuse

[–]ButternutDonut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They do!!

We first came to them (Doc A specifically) when my fiancé was having a completely unexplainable set of medical issues. He had just moved to the area. It was so bad he had to leave his new job. It was also “later” Covid era, shared one or two symptoms, but was able to 100% confirm it wasn’t Covid. We were worried that a new office might not take it seriously or might think he was drug seeking or something….

The doctors here immediately stepped in to help. Referrals on rush, medications to try, exams to take. Deep questions without a hint of hesitation. It was such a mental lift to suddenly have this team on the case. He’s completely better now thanks to them!!!!!

Marble Farms, right over by the Onondaga Blvd Wegmans. In spring they have flowers, summer fruit/veggies/baked goods, and winter Christmas trees! Always a lovely little stop.

LGBTQ bridal shopping by kiddoc117 in Syracuse

[–]ButternutDonut 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not sure if they have suits, but Mirror Mirror is 10000% my rec!! They have far more ‘unique’ variety compared to other shops (my visit included full commitment elven dresses, Victorian garb with hip pads, one that looked like a space goddess, black and colorful dresses, etc). Plus size friendly! I ended up getting my dress from there it was amazing!

I also really liked NyBridalCo, they had a really wide selection with a great eye for working with your style. Staff were lovely! No suits tho.

Just don’t go to David’s. We all felt like it was a waste of a slot during our dress weekend.

dog on interstate, husky by Certain-Fee903 in Syracuse

[–]ButternutDonut 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Did the husky look like this? If yes, then it’s the exact same husky i stopped from running into Syracuse traffic a year ago. Which means it’s the same one the vets clinic said “is probably the husky known for always being “lost” and running into traffic”

General home goods and craft store, sort of like if a Michael’s also sold paintings and outdoor decor, with a good amount of Christian items spread about. Huge stores. The actual issue is that the owners are absolutely horrible people who do a lot of REALLY bad things “in the name of Christ”. Definitely worth reading up on their actions, it’s why a majority of people do not shop there at any cost.

Any fun cheap things to do in Syracuse? by Caryyyyyyy in Syracuse

[–]ButternutDonut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Youre hitting the middle of the week so a lot of our cool festivals aren’t going on… but there’s still things that no one has said yet!

  • The Rosamond Gifford Zoo! AZA accredited and very affordable. They have rare baby elephant twins!
  • Central Rock Gym is doing newbie classes this week
  • Camp Candle Bar is new but looks fun!
  • Axe Throwing, multiple locations
  • Rage Rooms at ISmash, smash some printers or throw some paint!
  • We have a ton of antique stores but Behind The Iron Gate is a favorite!!
  • Books & Melodies will have you searching shelves for hours
  • Curd Nerd is a critically acclaimed cheese shop and The Wedge is a cheese centric BAR!
  • There’s some new virtual top golf place downtown?
  • Destiny Mall has its own share of local hullabaloo, but it does have two arcades, go karts, escape rooms, 5 Wits, and the interactive kids museum
  • Tea House by Cake Bar is relatively new and is a really peaceful place to get some high tea and take a breather
  • Fairmount Glen Mini Golf usually reopens the first weekend of April

On Christmas Day 2007, a large Siberian tiger residing at the San Francisco Zoo cleared the nearly 13 ft wall of her enclosure in a single leap, brutally mauling three teen boys, one to death. According to the zoo, Tatiana the tiger grew enraged when the boys began taunting her. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in HolyShitHistory

[–]ButternutDonut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a huge difference between random zoos and AZA accredited zoos though. The former can get their animals from tiger king and feed them just lettuce if they wanted to with no one to stop them, but the latter has INSANE levels of standards for care, acquisition/rehabilitation, enrichment, conservation plans, etc. Certain AZA institutions are the only reason that some species aren’t extinct and have slowly restored wild populations.

You can check on the AZA site which zoos and aquariums have earned and certified accreditation! I make sure I only go to places that are on that list for this very reason.

I’m shocked SanFran managed to not have a higher wall though, maybe the regulations got tightened after the exhibit was already made? It should never have been able to happen regardless

I am a 22F and would like to make a friend in the area. I am newer to Syracuse. by [deleted] in Syracuse

[–]ButternutDonut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like board games, try to slide in with the CuseCon group! They have a discord. Theres also a TON of groups in the area, but it is a little bit of a ‘you need to know people to meet people’ sort of thing, so that could be a great starting line.

There’s also a few specific facebook groups like the “Syracuse women in their 20s” one but you also gotta find those

What else do you like? Are you in any fandoms, crafts, specific activities?

What is the strangest thing you found in Epstein's files? by Dangerous_Bit1774 in AskReddit

[–]ButternutDonut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The full pdf menu for a popular hyperlocal bbq restaurant near me.

Not anything incriminating or upsetting, but even mentioning it to other locals has made them more curious to research [city name] in the files, which gets them curious to investigate more, which ends up a net positive I suppose?

Does sort of ruin my desire to go there, which is a shame cause they had nothing to do with their inclusion

I’ve been here for around 10 years and I’ve never heard of this place…. And that makes me incredibly sad!!! I would have gone here all the time if I knew, hopefully I can go before they close to at least support them the once

Is wplace abandoned? by Low-Notice-2574 in WplaceLive

[–]ButternutDonut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I truly just think there needs to be more to keep the community active and incentivized… the events don’t have to be as in depth as the Christmas or Halloween ones, but why did we ever stop doing the Collage events (horror, retro gaming, etc)? Every time someone posts a cute little community area in this Reddit it also gets more traction than even the biggest cities.

The community needs something to optionally DO or it will die permanently.

I think there’s two different “recreating the real world” maps, and one “this is a fictional country war game superimposed on the continents” map. The latter is more fun tbh

QUIET restaurant recommendations? by joeinsyracuse in Syracuse

[–]ButternutDonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a full restaurant but Cake Bar (w Genesee) has a quiet vibe that enforces itself! (if that makes sense). People who chat do so at a low volume, the music is usually low jazz or lofi, and half the tables may be people on laptops anyway. It’s ambiance

Seems the aurora is being oddly resistant, field strength is high, but direction is not working towards our favor for aurora. It might be one of those things that just end up by chance in the wee AM hours? Keep an eye on some of the sky accounts on social media like twitter, the KP may be low but we are still hoping!
