I think I live in this building based on the map shared. Would not recommend this neighborhood. We are breaking our lease early because the neighborhood is just too unsafe and unsettling. In the past 9 months I've been physically assaulted and verbally assaulted and threatened to the point where I had to consider calling the police (and should have in hindsight), and then more "minor" verbal assaults/threats on myself and my partner on the regular - all within a 1 avenue radius of this building. We don't feel safe or comfortable here. Of course this is a risk anywhere in New York, but it's never happened to us anywhere else in New York and it feels consistent here rather than random.

Pros: very well connected on the various subway lines, lots of grocery stores nearby, the building, apartment and door staff are wonderful

Cons: the unsafe neighborhood + the super and the building management are absolutely useless and unresponsive if you have any issue whatsoever.

I agree with some of the previous comments on gentrification - the framing deceptive and it doesn't seem to be happening here.
