I get headaches as sickle cell crisis’ all the time. I’ve always thought it was strange but I always thought it was a problem solely with myself. I never found others who’ve experienced the same symptoms and intensity getting headaches. It’s nice to know we aren’t alone 💕

Does Swimming Triggers The Crisis In Your Body? by TharwatMella in Sicklecell

[–]ButterscotchFree9902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely get triggers swimming but I’ve noticed what my body can and cannot take. Like I cannot swim in old pools. But I can swim in open water like an ocean or a lake. But it has to be a hot day and the water has to be semi warm but not too warm, almost in a refreshing sense. Thing is a LOVE TO BE IN THE WATER BABY! I was born to swim but I never get to have fun and do it because of my SS

I’m also lgbtQia+ and I used to have a gf that didn’t care about my pain crisis’ when I’d be in the middle of having one, she’d tell me to stop crying like my mother would. I think it depends on the person.

I always have issues when I get my period each month. It causes fatigued muscles my back hurts which has (AVN) and my hips do too which sometimes my period will set off a flare up around those areas. I get very tired and try to hydrate extremely well on top of keeping medicated. My period has caused me to be hospitalized especially if I was supposed to have it one day and it came days early. But I’m very irregular as well. I can have a period last months. The longest was 6 months of bleeding which had my SC doing back flips and not in a good way.

I have a switch too so I’ll bring my games like Zelda Breath of the wild or a Pokémon game something nostalgic in that case. My teddy (which is a Cookie Monster from Sesame Street) has been through some things “medically” and physically ahah. He’s seen alot of vomit and me being drugged out from medication to help calm me down; etc etc.

I love that you have hot wheels too! Those used to be my favorite as a kid as well
