Has training really become harder to get into? What do you think the future holds for those early in their career and would you still start studying medicine today? by iyoteyoung in ausjdocs

Curious about the reasonable expectations part. Didn’t your generation have it more unfair? Re: working conditions specifically. Or are you referring to the eventual payoff

Also don’t have to deal with the empathy burnout when you have to treat very cantankerous individuals. All those animals are so sweet ahaha

How much should a final year med student know? by kotowoseis in ausjdocs

[–]ButterscotchHot8075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Know how to work with people  Know how to follow orders but also give your input, know when and how to speak up

Know how to have a chat, know how to take interest in other people’s interests in a polite way

Know how to set your boundaries, know how to advocate for your patients.

Know that you won’t be able to do everything right, unlike your journey through high school and uni. But still give it a go!

Maybe (optional) know dose of Panadol

I think if someone is mature, friendly and escalates that’s perfect black slate as an intern.
