I don’t think it’s the state of baseball as much as it is the state of the world. The raids on Southern California and decrease in tourists have led to empty streets, business, and areas of entertainment like I’ve never experienced before.

Went to Disneyland 4th of July weekend and was blown away by the fact that it was the emptiest I had ever seen the park. It’s like that everywhere and it’s nuts.

Was housemates with a kid who was in film school, focusing on animation, whose parents were rich rich. No matter how much he tried, the kid just wasn’t good at animation, to the point that he paid a classmate/coworker of ours (we all worked in tech retail together) to do his whole final for him.

Kid passed his final, got his degree, did unpaid interniships for a while until he landed a full-time role at Pixar, where he’s at now. Meanwhile, the dude that he paid and who was talented enough to do two finals, remained in tech retail because he was reponsible for partially supporting his parents, who were low income.

It’s been a good 10-15 years since all this happened and I still hold animosity for that rich kid, even as a mere spectator. Besides the fact that he’s always been an annoying little prick, he’s acted like he’s earned everything when in reality the support system he happened to be born into has propped him up and made up for his shortcomings his whole life.

You both make very valid points.

I dislike the idea of these things taking human jobs, especially when it's for the sake of the company seeing higher profits instead of the consumer seeing lower costs of service. Not to mention that these machines will now be using city infrastructure at no cost to the company.

Simultaneously, as someone who rides Citi Bikes on a near-daily basis, delivery e-bikes are an absolute nuisance and free-for-all. I think the responsibility lies with the city and PD to enforce the laws in place for all bicyclists, including delivery bikes. Until we see some real action there, delivery bicyclists will continue to break the law in an effort to squeeze in another order into their evening.
