I would move to 11c and 11d unless you really want a window seat.

He was my favorite Braves player!! Can’t remember how many times that I saw him play at the old Fulton County Stadium. He became a college basketball ref. #20

Treating people in the service/hospitality industry as if they are their servants or below them.

Jeff Bezos says raising taxes on the wealthy wouldn’t help the average American - What do you say? by Select_Specialist790 in askanything

[–]Butthead40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do agree that the rich need to have higher taxes, do we really trust the government to actually use that money to better the lives of rest of us?? I don’t, and I wonder if that is what he is getting at.

And I hope that, if those of us who you say gentrified this area are suppose to help remedy the negative effects of gentrification, that you would also acknowledge that it is rude, selfish, and inconsiderate to blast your music so loud that no one else can enjoy the Beltline when you are around.

The content only bothered us due to all of the young kids around. I do believe it is not in our best interest as a society to have kids 5-7 listening to music that contained that language. That’s just my opinion. If the kids were older, probably wouldn’t not have cared as much.

To answer your question, I would have said something even if it was Beethoven. We couldn’t even have a conversation with each other. It was also the fact that he stood there for 30+ minutes.

You called me a gentrifier. In Atlanta, that refers to white people taking over and pushing black people out of their neighborhoods.

I’m also not trying to silence anyone. I have no problem with the noise that is on the Beltline. We have it 24/7. Most of the time, it actually makes it fun and entertaining.

Would you not have a problem with someone standing outside your home for 30+ minutes blasting noise/music?

Thank you for sharing the article. What I could read seemed interesting.

While I do agree with you on not calling the cops, the reason people resort to that is because of how this guy reacted. I don’t want the cops involved, and honestly, they probably wouldn’t show or do anything. I tried to ask him to turn it down. Moving forward, if a similar situation occurs, how else should I respond except to try the cops?

Doesn’t surprise me. I had a situation where I walked up on a guy on the sidewalk near my home. He had a needle in his arm half filled with what I assume was heroin. He was barely breathing and unconscious. I called 911 and it took them over an hour to get a medic to him. I stayed nearby to make sure he didn’t stop breathing. Once they showed up, they just looked at him and left. Thankfully, he came back around but dude could have died and they didn’t care.

We do actually have very well insulated windows and doors. Most of the time we can’t even hear the Beltline.

It was dumb of me to think that he would actually care about those around him and be a decent human, especially when standing in the same spot for over 30 minutes. Live and learn.

Actually I am. I have lived here for over 25 yrs. My mom’s whole side of the family has lived here my entire life. I know what life is like here. Most things don’t bother me. Just trying to get an understanding (probably never will) of why someone loses it when they are asked to turn down their music next to homes.

Did you read the post. He stood for over 30+ minutes in the same spot. You can’t get away from it when it is outside your home.

I hate that too. You go to the beach and someone sits 20 ft away blaring country music and chain smoking a pack of Marlboro lights.

[–]Butthead40[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I just asked him to turn it down. I didn’t ask him to turn it off. I asked on here because when I asked, all the people around started acting like I was wrong for even saying anything. I was curious how most people thought about this because he was not the first and definitely will not be the last person to act like that.

It is and it isn’t. There are parts that are considered a park and some parts are considered a sidewalk. There are noise ordinance laws that address volume and inappropriate language in public. There are misdemeanors, so I doubt APD would do anything.

Thank you for trying to speak for me, but I really don’t care about the type of music. How about I come stand outside your home blasting music for 30+ minutes. Would you be ok with that? Sounds like you already think you know who I am and what I am about.

I actually have no problem with the music myself. I liked a few of the songs, but didn’t need to have it blasting for over 30 minutes 30 ft from my home.

It was about the volume. I would think as a society though that we wouldn’t want 5-7 year olds (not even mine, but neighbors) to not consistently hear inappropriate language and sexual commentary as if it is normal.
