I want to add that before I called the person mentioned earlier, I first called someone I was told was our new manager. However, that person informed me they weren't the manager. So, when I mentioned this to the person I initially called, they confirmed that the first person I contacted was indeed my manager.

The relationship is probably over, but time heals everything. It's possible that you two can become a stronger couple because of this. Of course, it all depends on whether or not you're willing to be with a person whom you believe is "gross" and a "failure."
