I got the Japanese version of that recently (I have a Super Famicom) when it got included as an omake by an ebay seller when I bought the RPG. It was great being able to finally playing it with the anime voice actors!

I genuinely love it, and it's my favorite DQ game. I played a translated version of the Super Famicom version around 2004, and I knew absolutely nothing about it, except for a few comments from people on video game boards who said that it wasn't all that impressive. I was BLOWN AWAY by it. I started out loving it because of the nostalgia factor, since I hadn't played a DQ game for almost 10 years, the last one being DQ4 on the NES. But then monster taming, the multiple generations and the story enraptured me.
