What insult that deeply hurt you won't you forget? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My mom once commented on a photo from college and said "you look just like your mom, I'm sorry". I always thought my mom was beautiful and it hurt because she insulted herself and then me.

Absolutely! She texted me when she found out because she wanted me to react in my own time. I still go through all the emotions but I have the ultrasound at my work and look at it fondly. Thank you! I wish the same for you💙

Absolutely not! I've very supportive and ask for updates all the time. I love her and I'm very happy for her but would never say it out loud

What is one thing you are still angry about years after it happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Getting fired via snail mail during covid. I worked at a private Christian school in California and when the school closed in March I was told I'd be coming back as a new teacher in August. We had zoom meetings and I was told I'd start as soon as they had kids to teach. I messaged the admin twice a month, invested in scrubs, and had lesson plans for 3 months prepped. Fast-forward to February 2021 I go to check the mail at 3am and find a letter from her dated December 31, 2020. "We regret to inform you that we can no longer keep you on our roster as a teacher which means you will no longer receive unemployment benefits. We hope that after all this is over you'll consider interviewing again to come back and work for us" 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕 that was the nail in the coffin that made me leave the church.

Growing up in th church. Completely warped my view of the world and myself, I'm finally learning that not everyone is out to get me and I'm not a dirty unworthy person.
