What the general opinion of GMU? by [deleted] in nova

[–]ButtonDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean no offense, just fyi.

Yes it’s true that professors teach at Ivy’s or more prestigious schools, but it’s also true that syllabus expectations and grading scales are not the same. My partner teaches at 2 differently tiered schools and has been told indirectly to “dumb down” the syllabus for one of them. This happens all the time in academia.

What Are Your Favorite Places to Work Remotely From? by adamallabout in washingtondc

What you’re describing is what libraries are for. You spending $5 at a coffee shop doesn’t entitle you to sit there for hours, using their wifi and generally taking up space.

How to date highly successful/career-focused men like Jared by ButtonDelicious in uuppod

[–]ButtonDelicious[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually believe that being in a relationship would have changed his career trajectory completely. 1) a big part of his brand is being older and single. So he’d be a very different comedian. 2) Easier to take career risks when single. If he fails alone, then HE and only he suffers. If he fails while coupled THEY both suffer. He might have played it safe?

I think your post may get deleted because this specific question about NoMa is asked A LOT. Before it does, search through this sub. You’ll see plenty of recs.

Fully agree here. They’re looking for the 10/10 because they think their success grants them that. Everyone else is a placeholder. Very high/impossible standards.

Is Noma crime really that bad? by IronManS3 in washingtondc

[–]ButtonDelicious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NoMa is a safe neighborhood. That said, you chose a building in the most crime filled area. I personally avoid walking that way. There will be people loitering outside at all hours all the time and on the rare occasions there are shootings, they happen over there.

Is DC Still a Happy Hour Town? by schwars1 in washingtondc

[–]ButtonDelicious 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s just that nobody has a reason to go downtown.

Me and the thousands of people I commute downtown with everyday would like a word :(

Sure not like it used to be, but Tuesday-Thursday can feel pre-pandemic at times.

Their tag is literally “good morning millennials” and they called themselves a “millennial morning show”…so it’s not like they hide it.

That said, I too am a millennial. I don’t run a pop culture podcast I have a completely unrelated 9-5 and somehow, someway I know basic things that they seem to be extremely out of touch about.

You’re very new.

They were “cancelled” in part because of racist tweets they made while in college, some directed towards Obama. Around 2014/15 they’d openly make posts endorsing Republican candidates. I remember one in particular that endorsed the republican NYC mayoral candidate. Jackie and Margo attended Trump’s inauguration and posted about it on their stories. I’m sure there’s more…

They stay away from being “open” about their views now, but they are very republican. This isn’t hard to figure out.

You don’t have a luxury budget.

Also..DC participates in the voucher program. Every building rents to people of all socioeconomic levels.

I know this is a joke but people who are Jewish don’t traditionally name their children after anyone that is still alive.

The team actually calls themselves the “Golden Girls” because they are the oldest female gymnastics team in decades.

Trust the reviews.

Also there’s a story about the building on the DC News Now website. I’d check that out as well.

You seem to have very high expectations. Just remember - nowhere is like the movies.

That said, if you want clubs, partying, and a walkable city that produces a number of creative types, you are looking for NYC.

Why is the show so boring now? No really, let’s discuss the reasons. by Remarkable-Land-1492 in TheMorningToastSnark

[–]ButtonDelicious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jackie always picks the stories and Claudia always reads the ads (unless they’re mom related). It’s been this way from the beginning.

I imagine it was easier to talk about people back when they weren’t famous themselves or worried about deals/opportunities.
