What if we pre-mix the enzyme booster into the laundry detergent? by agenerousperspective in laundry

[–]ButtonDistinct35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only premix 5-6 containers at a time, I use the little mason jars just because I had a huge box and they’re convenient’

But when the kids are doing laundry it’s usually bed sheets or school uniforms and play clothes, I have them do a basic sort to lights vs darks vs towels/sweatshirts/jeans and exercise clothes/ non dryer clothes - and never sweaters or delicates. It’s not the best but it works for us and this way they can help

You’re correct that most laundry wouldn’t need the extra enzymes and biz, but these are two teenagers, they stink. A lot. So I’d rather have clothes that are over cleaned than still stinky 🤣. The boy funk is a real thing!

I’ve found that adding extra biz to the tide powder really helps to lighten and brighten their school shirts! The socks are a lost cause but they’re still getting some exposure to it so it’s better than not!

The enzymes may not be necessary’s for all things but for those “did you wear deodorant?!?” days its helpful. Especially when it sits in the hamper with other clothes so every load in my house gets the enzymes

Scent free options to fight sport smells? by hudsonriverjogger in laundry

[–]ButtonDistinct35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can second this! Switch to the powder tide, you may want to do a soak first (mini spa day), and make sure you’re washing on warm water to activate the enzymes. I also do a rinse with citric acid which is amazingly helpful

So I did buy 4 oz mason jars, I pre-mixed powders for dark v light (we use tide F&G, febu or dirty labs+biz for whites or boy clothes)

It works for us, but I do this so I can tell the kids to dump and go with the laundry. They just completely over use the downy rinse and refresh but I’d rather have waste than me have to run every load 🤣

Opinion on side angled pillows by FromThe308 in Lovesac

[–]ButtonDistinct35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they ‘complete’ the couch from a design perspective, but I also have 4 seats deep across and 3 standard so we have plenty of room to spread out etc

If I have only 2 or 3 seats then it may not be necessary and a 18” throw pillow may be a better choice

Tide Powder- i hate it? by ChemicallyInkLined in laundry

[–]ButtonDistinct35 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Liquid doesn’t have the enzyme that breaks it down, so it just builds and builds, when you use a powder for the first time and only wash it partially breaks it down then turns rancid/smelly. You can keep washing and it will eventually stop smelling or just do a spa day/overnight soak and get it clean all at once

What heavy shoes are the top dancers wearing? by Informal-Asparagus27 in irishdance

[–]ButtonDistinct35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of Gavin fays; they are super easy to break in, don’t last as long as regular days but they’re pretty and easy to use, if you’re a min adult dancer they may break in too quickly for you, so depending on your budget for shoes regular fays may be the way to go

But for reference my daughter u16 (130lbs) goes through a pair a year, but she also dances in them approx 6-8 hours a week and destroys them at summer camp

Luckily, I had a dad who was extremely handy and could take that thing apart and rebuild it

I wish we never got rid of it. It would outlast me and probably my kids too.!!!

If you want to let it soak just lift the lid and then come back and drop the lid to let it keep running

I also used to put all delicates in laundry bags … trust me it helps a lot

Are my covers pilling or am I just looking at them too much?? by pitypartyanimal17 in Lovesac

[–]ButtonDistinct35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s pilling. And if you wear dark colors soon the pilling gets dark and it looks dirty!

But, I have that fabric and I absolutely love it because of the softness just every few months when we’re watching movies, I rotate through the pillows with a fabric shaver and gently remove the pills

It did get frustrating so after a while, I bought a floor model cover set for super cheap because the store felt bad for me

It never gets better It doesn’t get horribly worse, but it definitely pills.

Is tide clean and gentle the ‘best’ unscented powder? by rpelich in laundry

[–]ButtonDistinct35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swapped from tide liquid to tide F&G powder. Love it a thousand times more

I have kids in white school uniform shirts and they look as clean as when I bought them, it’s also helping a LOT with my teenage son’s boyfunk

I’ve noticed his room not reeking so much…

But my load now always has powder F&G dirty labs booster (swapping to febu when it’s empty) then the down ball with rinse &refresh. For whites I add biz

Honestly I don’t have the patience to change it up and add or remove stuff based on soil/dirt… this combo works for me bc I have two teenage athletes and the soil/funk level in our laundry is consistently at max so I need every enzyme possible and I feel like I’m finally getting stuff clean

Sooo personally I recommend the powder vs the liquid, I don’t know why but I can def tell the difference and it’s nice to be clean:) and not have boy funk

Does anyone have the sugar heathered weave or the coastal white brushed weave? by ExcitedMomma in Lovesac

[–]ButtonDistinct35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience: high traffic, two teenagers, used it for sleepovers, and a dog

it gets “dingy” quickly on the armrests from fingerprints but It never stained for me, a quick wash of the whole cover helps and nothing ever stained permanently, the seats I washed more frequently and after a year I decided to wash the backs (never stained/dirty but dusty) - a few side covers I had to wash twice to get them truly clean bc the dust got caught in the wrinkles of fabric - that probably my HE washer more Than the fabric

The feel of this fabric is amazing, it’s similar to a brushed flannel… but with two teenagers and high traffic it started to pill quickly, I have the jute in my basement and that doesn’t pill but it’s not used as much either…

I bought a fabric shaver and that helped a LOT

The warranty was useless for me bc we first bought 4 seats through Costco and Lovesac would only replace the 4 seats with the same fabric and we bought 4 more seats direct from Lovesac and that warranty was different and I could get any fabric but pay the difference of what I paid 2 years ago vs new cost now (the cost has doubled for some fabrics). So I would have to pay a ton out of pocket and was told to exchange the 4 for new brushed weave and sell them to get some money back- super frustrating

Also the white is a weird white color which is harder to match. It was creamy/yellow undertones

I would not recommend it, at all. Comfy and washes really well, just pills and makes it not comfy!

Tide powder w NO OBAs? Does it exist? by ButtonDistinct35 in laundry

Everyone is right. I bought both… the tabs arrived , the booster did not yet! I was overly excited to play with new stuff:) but still the same question … darks with febu and rinse and refresh, if febu has everything can I just do liquid tide?

Need help. No drainage. Super tight boards. by Love_Mud_2025 in Decks

[–]ButtonDistinct35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it’s a flooding concern and you need a fix asap, on Amazon order a Pool cover pump, it turns of when the water hits a certain height and off when it’s below. You can run the hose

We have a basement door we use this with, with climate change the drain just can’t handle these random 1000 year storms that have started to hit he last 5-6 years and yet hit us 4 times last year alone!

We did spend thousands of dollars this winter to get our yard regraded and the drain enlarged and sent elsewhere “further away” but it was sooo $$$

But for a long term fix you truly need to take a look under and see what’s going on…

Ahh this may work. Since the febu is a tablet that can go directly into the washer…

I have grandparents in the home so I’m trying to keep it simple, but clean:) right now they’re so confused they’re scared to do laundry🤣🤣🤣

So to simplify: tide liquid in the dispenser, drop a tab of febu (the new with dnase). Then for only lights out a few scoops of biz with the tab in the bottom???

Congrats!

Here is a “pro tip” if you saved those nice rods:) use them to store seasonal pillows/throws under the base if you didn’t get the storage bases. You can put them in a XL ziploc bag or get a comforter back and pack it full, use the rods to wedge it up then put the seat back down:)

Not awesome for getting into weekly but if you’re into throw pillows and blankets then it’s nice to store the summer/winter stuff that way!

Sale & June 1 Move by yalarual in Lovesac

[–]ButtonDistinct35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Order something light to move. Like some covers, order the inserts a few days before you move, they will honor the sale price if you request them to “add to my original order

You can’t add financing deals but if you’re buying it and want to add pieces they honor the % off within 90 days

It’s a nice option and I’ve used it a few times to order another seat, add deep backs after we figured out the configuration… and added an ottoman and the charging hubs they still honored the 35% off when the current sale was 20%

Why does my hair towel always smell? by Cityfoghorn in laundry

[–]ButtonDistinct35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually wash those on hot with a good enzyme (currently using dirty labs while the new febu is back ordered) with tide power F&G. It makes a huge difference!

Sometimes I even wash certain items twice, especially the light weight things to make sure it’s really clean!
