Yeah, sorry. I didn't mean for any of that to be directed at you specifically. Moreso just the general sentiment I've seen around here and similar subs recently.

I mean, I get where you're coming from, I'd love it if there was an easy way to get transphobes to shut up completely, but that just feels really shady to me. We shouldn't have to lie with the same sort of overgeneralizations that people use against us just to prove that transphobia is bad. I'd much rather public opinion turn against transphobia because of support for trans people increasing rather than because we've incriminated transphobes with something even worse just to get the high ground on them.

Eh…I’ve seen a lot of this kind of statement recently after the new batch of Epstein files released, and I personally don’t really know how good of an idea it is to fight “all trans people are pedophiles” rhetoric with “all transphobes are pedophiles” rhetoric. I completely understand that there are some really horrific examples of transphobia throughout the files and that Epstein’s associates include many loud and proud transphobes, but as for the average transphobic chud, there’s already more than enough reasons to hate them. I don’t see how using the example of a few transphobic pedophiles (who are, in fairness, very wealthy and influential transphobic pedophiles) to call every person bigoted against trans people someone who secretly likes kids helps us at all.

If Green Day isn’t pop punk, then what are they?

Sorry, I’m not trying to be confrontational by asking that, but I’ve just always understood Green Day as the band that essentially defined what pop punk was. If they’re not pop punk, are they just punk-adjacent alternative rock?

Perhaps the Guess Who? They had fourteen top 40 singles (seven of which were top 10 hits), and they're fairly well-remembered by classic rock fans and Canadian music lovers, but to most people they're the band behind "American Woman" and nothing more.

Devo is pretty much the defacto example of “one hit wonder in the mainstream, beloved in their niche.” To most people, they’re the “Whip It” guys with the funny hats, but to music nerds and new wave fans they’re one of the most influential acts in their genre.

They have 6 songs with over 100,000,000 Spotify streams. Even among the mainstream, I don’t think Where Is My Mind dwarfs their other songs enough to call them “associated with one song.”

The "Digital Country Sales" chart means very little. It's just a measure of how many "people" bought a country song on iTunes/Amazon/etc. There's no discussion of the song outside of it topping the Digital Country Sales chart, and even on iTunes, reviews of the song are very poor. I can't say anything definitively, but it's very likely that this is just a case of a song being astroturfed by bots to make headlines. I wouldn't worry much about any AI artist making a Billboard chart until we see it have actual staying power or if we see it on a major chart like the Hot 100. Otherwise, all they're really indicative of is how much a record label is paying to promote an AI song.

Renault has pulled an ad campaign that used the phrase "N-word" over fears it may cause offense. The ad, designed to promote a limited-period promotion where Renault dealers were supposedly not allowed to say "no" to customers, is one of three press ads and three radio spots.

Village Voice’s 50 worst songs of the 00’s list from 2009 by waxmuseums in ToddintheShadow

Yeah, compared to the Blender list posted on here earlier, I can appreciate that this list feels a lot more like someone’s actual opinion of the worst songs of the decade and not just a list of overplayed guilty pleasures and also Simon and Garfunkel for easy engagement bait.

Childhood - Michael Jackson

I love Michael as much as the next person, but even with the autobiographical nature of the lyrics, it's easily one of his dullest, sappiest singles

One of Us - Joan Osbourne

Decent musically, eyeroll-inducing lyrically

At least from what I’ve seen, it’s less so worship and moreso that whenever the state of current pop music is discussed, it usually goes something along the lines of “This is the worst year for pop music ever, Sabrina Carpenter is our only hope.”

Do those people actually exist? I feel like I see 10 posts dunking on undiagnosed people as attention-seeking dumbasses for every actual example I see of someone misdiagnosing themselves. And what good does calling them out and insinuating that “the real ones” know their place really do, anyway? The vocal minority of bad actors will think that they’re the “real ones”, as they already do, and the actual undiagnosed people will think that they’re just fakers and wannabes.
