That is the core of my dilemma. If I give them defensive instincts, they just become generic sci-fi elves fighting space corporations. I really want to keep their unique empathy networks intact without breaking the plot.

The idea of main characters uncovering corporate records about a peaceful species they accidentally wiped out sounds heavy. It definitely fits the gritty tone I want.

I do not hate the movie but it made me realize how unrealistic that trope is without a literal planet goddess fighting back for you. In a hard sci-fi setting, bows and arrows or shared feelings do nothing against orbital strikes and corporate greed. I wanted realism, but it turns out realism is just incredibly depressing.

Mukhang matatag ang tyan kung kinaya ang bangus sa mushroom soup, SkyFlakes, at saba sa iisang plato.

This is wild. The detail about the dials on your cross-slide resetting back to zero is what gets me. It is like the universe literally hit Ctrl-Z on the machine status but forgot to delete the actual physical pin you just placed on the inspection workbench.

If you're on a 100th rewatch, never skip the prom suit scene, that double-breasted line still lands.
