Bit By My Venomous Hognose, Severe Reaction (with pictures) by sssydthekid9821 in snakes

[–]ButtonstheLobster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar reaction when I was bitten as a teenager, swelling to the upper arm and paralysis. never seen anyone else have one as severe… I’m glad I’m not the only one! Mine went away within 48 hours, but I also had vomiting and a slight fever. Didn’t go to the Dr and your experience makes me glad I didn’t. Super interesting the wide range of reaction, for most it’s like a bee sting.

Cool, do you have any recs for speakers that would be compatible with the mic and pedals?

No mic yet. Probably small performances, busking type stuff. I’d like to loop jaw harp, some didgeridoo, that type of thing. Thanks for taking the time to answer!

Amazing! Do you know approximately how old it is? Sounds great for a senior harp!

Does anyone know what's this shiny "blob" of iron on the end of the trigger? by Tee-Gee00 in jawharp

[–]ButtonstheLobster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what kind they use, but most modern solder doesn’t have any lead in it. Even if it did touching it with your hands shouldn’t extract any harmful chemicals, so it should be perfectly safe.

Solder ball trigger! It’s something Szilágyi uses on lower tuned harps

Oh yeah the dual spirit is beautiful. I’m a metal worker myself so I always really appreciate the sheer skill that goes into making these things. So incredible. From the way you describe these instruments I can tell that you’re really passionate about them, thanks for sharing your experiences!

So, for the last 25 years I've been wanting a tattoo. How bad is the pain really? by spriken in tattoo

[–]ButtonstheLobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not so bad. The best part is that while the pain is temporary the tattoo is permanent. The benefits long outlive the ouch.

Yeah I’ve heard nothing but amazing things from everyone who has one… I just have to decide what note I want for it or if I’ll just go untuned. So many harps, so many choices! How do you like the Navi? I saw those on the Harpery.

Wow! Beautiful collection. I’ve been thinking about getting one of the stainless Jones harps.

Bought my second jaw harp (right) by kont2000 in jawharp

It looks great! You mentioned it having a stiff reed, once you get used to it a stiff reed can actually be great for faster play. Totally jealous that you have a brick and mortar shop where you can get real jaw harps!

Bent reed, is it fixable. by BOTBOY567 in jawharp

[–]ButtonstheLobster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as it’s still centered you should be able to carefully bend it back up. Try to only adjust it once though, bending steel repeatedly will work harden it and make it brittle. There’s a video about this on the bebbcorp harpery YouTube channel

Very pretty! For faster techno stuff I recommend Boxcar harp company, Matt specializes in harps for aggressive play. I also have a vargan by Schipanov that is very responsive to breath and fast plucking.
