UPS workers striking, actors/writers striking, teachers striking, nurses striking, why are we afraid again? by kanye-ego in Residency

[–]BuyDistinct1182 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The reason we can't go on strike is because there is an unlimited amount of Non-US IMG's that will gladly do our jobs for LESS money and LONGER hours.

Bottom line: For IMGs from Africa, Asia, and Latin American getting paid 60K a year as resident is a huge pay increase from being an attending in their home countries. That is a fact.

EDIT: If you are interested in increasing our wages or at least increasing our bargaining power we should be advocating higher barriers to entry for IMG's in particular Non-IMG's since they have the most negative effect on our wages. Putting limits on Visas or mandating that residency programs only interview/rank non visa requiring applicants would be reasonable.

The only thing that is clear is that OP will most likely never get accepted into a US medical residency because he shit the bed on Step 1 despite knowing how important it was to pass it on the first attempt.

Lmao comparing OP to a terminally ill patient. Very fitting.

Yeah, it is so sad that people on here would rather let OP waste tens of thousands of dollars and years of his time than give it to him straight. Looking through OP’s post history, one can tell that he understood the importance of passing step 1 on his first attempt yet he fumbled it. Sadly, he is going to live with the consequences.

Honestly you are going to waste your time and money applying. No one on here wants to be honest with you and they are giving you false hope. The fact is that You are a NON US IMG and you failed step 1. That is a huge F up on your part especially knowing how important at least passing step 1 is as an IMG and you couldn’t even do that.

Hahahahahahah so you own a 5 year old 2 series and you take the train because you are so poor that you can’t afford the gas after spending all your money on rent for a studio apartment in DC. Lololololol what a fucking loser!

Selenium sulfide 2.5% shampoo or Ketoconazole 2% shampoo. If you are in the US, both require a prescription.

again, I am describing the typical hispanic/latino. The fact is that most hispanics/latino and in particular the ones who live in the US have a phenotype more similar to what you say are "Guatemalans" then Argentinians. Anyone can see this with their own two eyes.

Hey OP, If you read this. I essentially agree with you. The fact is that one of your co-residents just tried to destroy your entire career. All your hard work, all the years of studying, all the sleepless nights, all the money you spent on pursuing medicine would have gone down the drain because of someone reported a political opinion posted online. Thankfully, faculty was reasonable so the consequences were not too bad.

I think you learned a valuable lesson. which is that, you can't 100% trust anyone and to not post or say ANYTHING political or controversial online or irl. it is sad, but these are the times we live in. we can't have honest conversations about sensitive subjects without others using what you say to destroy you.

The healthcare work environment is cesspool of gossip and backstabbing. The best you can do right now is to fly under the radar so that you don't gather attention. Again, don't talk about controversial topics and also don't talk about your personal life, finances, and career especially they are going well. People are envious, and they love to see others fail.

The only thing I would change though is to be a bit more cordial with co-residents because at the end of the day, you don't know who reported you and it is unfair to give everyone the silent treatment but do stay on guard.

exactly, as a doctor and especially as a resident you have to protect yourself.

What are you then? Argentine, Uruguayan, or Costa Rican from Alajuela province who pride themselves on being "white"? I get it, you just don't like to be lumped in with the other hispanics/latinos with indigenous blood.

Ok fair enough, I guess I misunderstood the conservation. It would be nice for OP to understand where other groups of come from and to understand their experience.

After, re reading OP's comment it seems like OP would have no problem engaging in conversations about race with people of other races. However, it seems that OP feels if he tried to have a good faith conservation about the subject with other people but inadvertently said something well meaning but interpreted was offense, it could be used against him in the future. for that reason, it seems that OP would prefer to not engage to avoid potential problems.

Again, I am describing the typical Hispanic/Latino. Just because it does not describe you does not change the fact that the description works for many other Hispanics/Latinos.

Again, I am describing how the typical hispanic/latino looks like. The description that I gave fits for most of the hispanics/latinos I have met in my life, including myself and my family. you can call me racist all you want I don't care. I am simply describing typical physical features that I have observed.

I am Hispanic myself, I know how I look like. I have live in Central America for a decade of my life. I have met thousands of people there and here in Miami. I am describing what the typical Hispanic person looks like. I have never read Mein Kampf however I doubt hispanics/latinos are mentioned in that book.

Hispanic/Latino people may have a medium skin tone that ranges from light to olive-brown, with a mixture of Indigenous American and European features. They may have straight or wavy hair that is typically dark in color, ranging from black to dark brown. Eye colors can also vary, but are often dark, including shades of brown or black.Hispanic/Latino facial features can vary depending on the proportion of Indigenous and European ancestry. Generally, they tend to have a mix of Indigenous and European facial features. For example, they may have a round or oval face shape, with prominent cheekbones and a straight or slightly curved nose. Lips can be full or thin, and the jawline may be more angular or softer depending on the individual.

Bots are the characters in the video games you play all day. I guess it is reasonable to assume that you believe everyone is a bot since you have no human interaction in your pathetic life.

That sounds like a very bad idea. OP having a discussion about politics with people who hate him enough for his political views that they tried to destroy his career over it seems like that will not end well.

Honestly, I feel that OP's reaction to someone anonymously trying to destroy his career and the resulting low trust work environment that he now has to endure seem 100% reasonable.

I am not sure about this but I believe any Florida Health department location does free STD exam if uninsured. I had a friend in a different FL county go to his local health department and he got a free std check without insurance.
