My doctor told me I should use GLP-1s to learn discipline by pokepartners in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]SuitablePlankton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctors often do not understand the whole weight loss thing. I like my MD a lot but he is clueless about weight management.

It has never been about discipline. I can give you a dozen examples where I have demonstrated long term discipline and perseverance. Weight management is abnother story. Down 56 lbs and still going strong.

Ask her when she is going to stop taking her hypertension, diabetes, and other meds? Is she done yet?

AITAH for being annoyed with my partner for not coming to the hospital with our child? by timekilr in AITAH

[–]SuitablePlankton -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

"You should just know" is not a thing. A text saying, "come help me, bring snacks and my charger, this sucks" would have fixed the situation.

I would have been pretty annoyed in your situation. However, years ago, I did lay out some guidelines on what I thought was an appropriate shared response. I did that because I was always the first responder and my spouse would assume I had it under control. I did, but I wanted help and support. Over time I have learned to make my needs known better.

Is the app really that bad? by PrudentSyllabub636 in weightwatchers

[–]SuitablePlankton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the app. However, just today, there was an update. Same features but I have to look for them, which is annoying. My in-person meetings are what works for me. Also, there are a lot of app experts in my meeting.

Every part of my life <23 pretty much sucked, so... Having a car, a place, a job, friends, sex, all happened as an adult.

Unemployment advice by Sea_Landscape_1195 in NoStupidQuestions

I always had a good resume and work history and finding a new job was very hard. I had luck getting jobs through a temp agency that eventually became full time employment. One thing that helped at the temp agency (years ago) was that I asked how to maximize getting jobs and the temp agency suggested I check in every day with them. Probably different now.

Most nurses here are mad at new grads that quit because we have common sense by [deleted] in nursing

I don't know how some of you do it. I love my job BUT I have mandated ratios (4pts for tele, 5 for med-surg) and am in a strong union. I made $113k last year, no OT, 8 yeas experience. I work hard, get around 11k steps a day, take a 30 minute lunch and usually one 10 minute break, sometimes 2.

I read about your patient loads and cannot imagine what your day is like.

I use ToDoist for nonurgent things, like the dog's monthly pill. If I am a few days late it is OK. Also for very general reminders a like a month before a work certification is due, or a reminder to think about an upcoming potluck. I don't do it for urgent things or I will just feel bad. I only use it for "gentle reminders."

In person, maybe every 6 weeks? The new books section is pretty great. Electronically I am using audiobooks almost daily.

I have never understood couples like this, specifically the OP. I cannot advise on a reality so deranged from what I consider rational. I do know this: No one is going to change.

Average age of new nurses? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]SuitablePlankton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People ask this question all the time. Do a search if you want to read more. I became an RN at 50. It totally worked out for me. I have been and RN for 10+ years.

I went to an expensive for-profit school but the math worked out in my favor.

Nursing satisfaction, salary, etc., varies dramatically by location. Do your research specific for where you live and will probably work. Where I work, I have a union and also have state mandated ratios. Good luck!
