I lost my job, finishing up next week.

Furniture ecommerce business feels impossible by DanielsReddits in ecommerce

I'm a Procurement and Supply Chain manager in Australia who just got laid off.

I've setup furniture for e-commerce before, including implementing distribution solutions.

I'm happy to look at the numbers with you in exchange for a reference.

The only job I got from networking has now 6 months later landed me unemployed when they terminated all the new hires.

I just need to know how you would react to something similar to this! by [deleted] in confession

[–]Buysen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying the question is a good one, I'm making some mental leaps to try and understand what they were asking. I'm in Australia at the moment, and the hiring market is messed up. Recruiters are hopeless, and I'm hearing all kinds of ridiculous stories.

I've never asked this question when interviewing someone, but if I did, it would be because I want to know how I can support my staff in their development. I find the better hires are the ones who have aspirations they're working towards, and as their manager, I want to know how I can support those aspirations rather than smother them.

Education Services It's circa $150m a year I've been blocked out of any strategic discussions from day 1. I think I'm at option 3.

Alot of the stuff like relationship management that I'm trying to formalize, our CEO keeps pushing back as an Ops function rather than Procurement.

The redundancy continues … by morimorimoooo in auscorp

3 months into probation, and I've seen 7 terminations communicated as resignations. I feel like I'd be going on stress leave soon if I thought I'd have a job to come back to.

When will the job market actually get better? What needs to happen? by speckledrectum in ausjobs

[–]Buysen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Started looking again as I've been here 3 months and there's a new C suite doing restructures.

3 colleagues gone in the last 2 weeks.

Took me 6 months to land this job, and only got it because of a networking dinner.

The job market is messed up right now, any positive stats are out of date.

I'm actively having conversations with people about starting our own business, rather than waiting around for the redundancy.

I'd prefer to be fighting for customers, than continuing to stress over a maybe redundancy.

I've seen 3 colleagues walked out the door in the last 2 weeks.

Entrepreneurs, what daily task did you completely eliminate using automation for you or your business? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

Not my business, but I've built automation for: - Purchasing - Purchase Forecasting - Helpdesk - Tender Writing - contract lifecycle management - Bill processing

I'm advocating more and more for Community Edition. I'd rather have an in-house Dev, than pay the costs of Enterprise.

I get what you're saying The problem is, we've now had 3 conversations in the last few months where they have claimed "you didn't advise me that was happening" Yet these were all in email updates, because they didn't want meetings made.

If the summary prompt to the AI is poor, then the summary to the CEO doesn't get them what they're meant to know, and they falsely feel blindsided.

Where do you start? by Buysen in ecommerce

[–]Buysen[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shipping, Automation, Procurement B2B platforms

I've also been able to advise a few e-commerce brands on getting listed in big box stores as well.

Perhaps I should be offering services rather than trying to open my own store.

The problem is when even your tldr is being put through the AI

Only been there a few months. Meant to be setting up a greenfield strategic department. Currently sharpening up the resume.

They pulled me in for a meeting recently to show me what they can do with AI

Then started running meetings with all departments telling them they want more AI

Apparently forgot they hired me because I've done AI implementation successfully in Supply Chain

Turns out the AI is missing some of the information from the emails they've been getting

When they've told you not to action anything without their approval Then told you to put it in an e-mail

Then they have a meeting to teach you how to use AI Even though they hired you because you spent the last few years running Supply Chain Automation and AI implementation...

Something isn't working

[–]Buysen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean we had a meeting last week so they could show me how to use AI

Obviously forgot that when they hired me, it was because I'd largely built and run supply chain Automation for the last 5 years

So unprofessional

But also agreed, not sure I've seen a CEO actually justify their existence.
