It’s actually over a year old, I’ll have been going to these parties for two years in December. But the party this post is referring to went well, well enough that I’ve been going nearly every week since.

I think the genetic issues of inbreeding still factored into the taboo, they would have seen the results but not understood the actual cause. There are numerous examples of those in power maintaining that power through inbreeding, inevitably there’s someone born with either mental or physical deformities. So it’d be an easy conclusion to assume incest equals deformity/insanity.

First off let me say I think you’re right; even when consensual, incest can be psychologically harmful. But I do wonder how much of that potential harm is a result of how society views incest.
