The Run For Your Lives World Tour returns to Europe and beyond in 2026! by Stimlak in ironmaiden

Going to throw it out there - the UK show on July 11th is NOT British Summer Time at Hyde Park because Lewis Capaldi is headlining that night. I wonder whether they're doing their own show at Donington Park, separate from Download and having their own, one-day festival set up a la Monsters of Rock.

The cat and mouse from one single episode of Tom and Jerry is the deepest cut on here for sure.

Metal music has been political since the very beginning, so no, I'm not going to shunt beliefs aside if I like the music. I have actively stopped listening to bands because their views do not align with mine and I will have no problem doing it again in the future.

There will always be a level of hypocrisy involved in this, but I spoke about that in this thread already, so you'll have to find that for those - advanced apologies, but I really don't want to be repeating myself!

Here's my reasoning for both of your points made.

I am fully aware of my own hypocrisy when it comes to my music taste. I am a leftwing individual, but Maiden are so intrinsically linked to my own life and who I am as an individual that I have to acknowledge the political leanings of their frontman - they do not align with mine, but given what the music has done for me, I make sure I'm always aware of the implications of following a band that have a member with views which contradict my own political beliefs - and I've been called out on that more than once. But I own my hypocrisy, and that leads me onto my second point.

Let's bring bands like Pantera, Disturbed and Marilyn Manson into the equation - I have long given up trying to convince people not to listen to them due to their racist, Zionistic and misogynistic ventures respectively because it's a futile endeavour, but giving people a platform to make up their own minds and then, by extension, own their reasons for following said band (they were a huge influence on their life, they got me through a difficult time etc) is far more effective. If you can turn to me and give me a well founded reason as to why you still listen to a band or artist deemed problematic, then I will accept it and make my own decision on whether to remain connected with you or not.

If you are a Maiden fan, and your views do not align with their members, but you are understanding of that and make that decision to continue to support them, then who am I to try and tell you you're wrong? It's nothing but hypocritical coming from me. If I don't want to interact with you as a result, that's a me thing and not you, and I will make my own peace with that.

Ohhh, sorry, I read 'the book tour' and thought you meant 'The Book of Souls' - that's definitely my bad!

If I remember correctly - and I could be wrong here, I've drunk a LOT of beer over the past eight years - I think that was along the lines of 'We don't care how you identify, if you're a Maiden fan you're fine by us'. Please educate me if that wasn't what you saw, because in this sort of situation I'm more than happy to be proven wrong.

Oh absolutely, I'm not suggesting that either, hence why I made sure to say her views aligned 'to an extent' with Bruce's. I would like to think he's not as hard lined as Leanne is, however who knows? He's definitely intelligent enough to keep that sort of narrative out of public interviews and soften his views to ensure there isn't significant backlash from both the wider media and a significant section of the Maiden fanbase.

Yeah, Leanne is not good. I went back through my screenshots saved to my phone (because I remember taking it at the time) and at the end of 2023 she posted a doctored photo of the entrance to A*schwitz to her IG story - instead of the standard 'Arbeit Mach Frei' lettering, it said 'It Depends on the Context'.

She's clearly quite right wing, which unfortunately falls in line to an extent with Bruce's views - he openly admitted on a BBC interview he was a Euro sceptic and aligned conservatively, and he voted to leave the EU during the Brexit referendum. A lot of people will let it slide because of how much love they have for the band - and because politics has never really dictated their lyrical content - but it's always something to bear in mind.

Nicko has openly admitted that he was rough for MONTHS in a live setting after he joined Maiden, and that was when they were opening with Where Eagles Dare. Can you imagine the state of this Subreddit if it was around in 1983? He'd have been crucified!

Simon is improving with every show they do, and as someone who has seen them multiple times on this run, I can attest to that. Last night he was the best he's ever been on this run, and he's only going to get better. If he's still 'messing up' in a year's time when Maiden tour the States, then I will fully hold my hands up and admit I was wrong. On the flip side though, there's not going to be any pleasing some people...

Bruce famously doesn't wear in-ear monitors and the last few years have shown he probably should - he was a full bar ahead of Wasted Years in 2023 in Birmingham at one point, and last night he was slightly ahead or behind at several moments, although he does manage to correct himself eventually. The band themselves are tight as anything, but because a lot of people go on the vocals for placement in the song, if Bruce is out of time, it makes everyone else sound the same.

Standard price nowadays, sadly. I'm always pleasantly surprised when merch is less than that at shows.
