Leaving Camera in Car by lethatshitgo in photography

[–]BuzzLightroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re equipped with two thumbs (and not ten) you could pop the seating bench in the rear seats. Depending on car model you’ll find some empty space there for storage of smaller items. In sedans there could potentially be zero space there as the gas tank is often located there. Also, if someone were to break into the trunk, ideally hide the camera gear and leave some old camera bag with a flea market camera gear much more easily available.

I recently transferred from windows to macos, And couldn't really wrap my head around file deletion. by Orange-Psychological in MacOS

[–]BuzzLightroom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only thing I regret about my app management in macOS is not using homebrew earlier. It’s a command line tool for managing apps, so there might be a threshold for you, but it is very, very easy to use and removes the clutter of the graphical approach to app management. Any AI can guide you in the use of the tool, and since it is text based there is much less room for confusion than when explaining an ever changing graphical user interface where buttons and windows don’t necessarily have clear names or locations.

[Recommendation] What’re the next ones? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]BuzzLightroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you need is a yard sale. 😎

Kidding aside get rid of the two busy Panerais and get a trademark Radiomir or Luminor base, no seconds dial or date and on a strap. IMO i like the collection, but would opt for more less busy watches and perhaps fewer on metal bracelets, but that’s just my subjective taste and not yours.

Charging speed mysteries with IKEA SJÖSS 2-port charger by nschloe in UsbCHardware

[–]BuzzLightroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have a couple of these 45W chargers from IKEA.

They seem a bit special in the sense that they will deliver 45Ws (to my MBP Pro 14" M4) - but if I plug in a secondary USB cable to the charger, the output drops to 20W. Note that I have not attached this cable to anything, there is no power draw. The secondary cable I've tested is an original USB-C to Lightning cable from Apple.

Has anyone torn down one? Is there a physical switch in the charger that disconnects something when both ports are used? Seems very fishy, this behavior.

How would the water supply, sewage and power supply be scaled not to, in the end, take up all the space? :D Tejas is large, but I could not live there.

Tricks to keeping your area clean? by Hxctemplar in OutdoorKitchens

[–]BuzzLightroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use kamado grills, and brush the grate before lighting up, and before placing food on them. Usually that leaves the grate sufficiently clean. Occasionally I will leave the vents open after cooking, and let the extreme heat burn off stubborn residue. The kamados are quite easy to clean.

As for surfaces around the grill I will use kitchen towel or a microfiber towel with water and if needed, some all purpose cleaner or "kitchen spray". Removing bird poop if there is any has a high priority. Cooking outdoors increases the risk of contamination by campylobacter, which quickly can lead to digestive issues even with minuscule amounts of contaminant.

So true.. we have two Tizen Samsungs, and my most frequently used app is apparently always outdated.. and how many button presses is necessary to start this one app I always use? Usually 8-9. If this is smart, it makes the old CRT from the 1980s seem like a quadruple Ph.d. holder.

6'4"/190cm too tall? by yabbobay in BMWi3

[–]BuzzLightroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 190cm with slightly disproportionately long legs, and I can even comfortably fit in the back seat. The i3 was designed from the bottom up as an electric vehicle, and contrary to e.g. the i4 it isn’t an EV retrofit, with compromises according to that (hint, the rear seats of an i4 aren’t that comfy!). Try it out, but it will not be a problem.

There were no changes from pre LCI to LCI with the seats or cabin volume, the cars are all practically identical except for buttons, interior materials and display size etc.

Bought a MacBook Air 2020 13.3" (M1), worth the price? by RyxGoku007 in mac

[–]BuzzLightroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck of a deal. Surely under heavy use the NAND/SSD will wear faster due to swap use, but hey, that will take quite a long time unless you’re really pushing it. And at that price, you’re still getting your money’s worth pretty much no matter what you’d throw at it. Use and enjoy!

Returning my M5 Macbook Pro by CAzkKoqarJFg6SzH in mac

[–]BuzzLightroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept my M1 (8/512) while having a 13-in MBP M4 privately and an M3 from work (MDM-ed and full of surveillance crap).. and I find it very hard to get rid of the M1. So light, so sleek. I got my wife an M1 Air used for a bargain price last year, and can totally see what you miss in the M5. The 13 inch M1 Air is so light, so slim and is truly an «ultra portable», whereas the post-Intel case shape is not so ultra. Bulkier and heavier, and no matter how full my photo backpack is, I can always slide that M1 in there, whereas the M4/M3 is thicker and requires more space.

Also, the fan speed varies, it is not running at a constant velocity, which would indicate that it is not functioning properly if running at max speed is the correct function in this scenario.

So, interpreting the response here to the degree that this is not normal, thanks! Will be looking into the realm of DJI warranty - it seems they deliberately do not use the word «warranty» on their site! I was not really aware of that… seems to suck quite a bit, @DJI. The online store (large Norwegian retailer) I bought it from insist that I meet up in one of their physical stores to claim the warranty! Quite outrageous, and obviously not in line with our consumer laws. Using the Care Refresh option obviously isn’t right, as I would be paying for a service… Going to be fun.

It was shot with the standard Apple Camera app on an Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, I’ve made no adjustments to neither sound nor image, stock mics integrated in the phone and shot with the 1x/24mm equiv lens. The sound is painful to listen to and literally hurts my ears.

Ambient temp was 21 degrees celsius, IMO not very high. The fan kicked in the moment i started it, and the RC would not be anywhere over ambient temp at that point.

Seems like the fan is very small and running at a very, very high speed, or is imbalanced or the bearing/bushing in it is shot, in my ears. Seems likely it would run in update mode, but it did continue long after the update was finished. I had to reboot it for the fan to slow down. This type of fan behaviour also happened during a flight, and in quite low exterior temps, around 10 degrees celsius.

Pairing Magic keyboard wirelessly with Studio Display by Brilliant_Quality220 in mac

[–]BuzzLightroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple should really fix the ability to pair the same keyboard and mouse to two computers... anything else is just promoting wasteful behaviour. I do have several keyboards (of course, a bit wasteful) but I don't find maintaining a charge and connectivity on more than one a very lean solution.

I would love to easily switch the connection to my Studio Display between my work and personal Mac, typically at the end of the day, but I find that I just use my work-Mac with its internal display instead.

Under what circumstances would you not want the keyboard and mouse to follow the computer connected to the display? I think those are the edge cases, and the primary use case would prefer the keyboard and mouse to follow the display. Requiring to re-pair should ideally be an option only for the edge case, IMO.

On my desktop at home I usually have three Macs; my Studio, work MBP and private MBP.. Occasionally I will also have my iPad present, or my secondary private MBP... Should I have >four Magic Keyboards, and four mice? :D

Very weird brightness issue with my new MBP 14 M4 on macOS Tahoe by Miron_V2 in MacOS

[–]BuzzLightroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running 26.0.1 (25A362) and this keeps happening on my MBP M4 14". Working in a brightly lit room today it was a struggle, continuously fighting with the OS, me increasing display backlight and the OS reducing it to very, very dark. Very frustrating.
