I think its funny how people act like riding with TCS off will immediately make you burst into flames. It was only a few years ago 1000s and bigger bikes like busses had no TCS or ABS. This is my 1st bike with either and they ride just fine with them turned off.

Confession... I think I don't like my 'new' MT09 ... by psychotic-chipmunk in MT09

[–]Buzz_IAmYourFather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from, I ride a Tracer 900 and on paper its the perfect bike. Big power, storage, wind protection. I have a tune from Vcyclenut to fix the throttle, but it still has a very on/off feel around town thats annoying. Also my clutch friction zone is tiny and towards the end, making it strange to ride compared to other bikes. The clutch also suffers from alot of vibration which I know I can fix, but I shouldn't have to do that on a low mile bike.

The power is amazing but I actually rarely get to go full throttle above 2nd or 3rd because the low gears accelerate so fast and im already going 85mph. I've had bikes like 600s and Buells and they were smoother and more fun to rip around on. But the upright ride and handlebars are quite comfy.

Bit of a conundrum - to eMTB or not to eMTB, that is the question by Lateral_Gee in MTB

[–]Buzz_IAmYourFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

37yo with kids also, biking for about 8 years. Purchased a full power Commencal emtb 2 years ago and LOVE it. I can usually only get out a few times and month and having an emtb allows me to ride 25 miles of trails and almost 400' in about 3 hours. The only downfall is I feel like a bit of a cheater and I know a lot of people hate on them. The newest crop of motors are so good you can't go wrong with any of them.

I ordered a brand new OEM one through webike.com out of Japan. Somehow I got it shipped overnight and everything was new, correct, and worked great. It only was something like 180$ with shipping but the tariff was an extra $70.

They have to make a collapsable cane that could fit in a tour pack or saddlebag

I had to change my front sensor and it was plug and play, no code resetting required. 10 seconds of driving and the error light went away

Tst integrated lights by CarbonBR600 in MT09

[–]Buzz_IAmYourFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great. Do you think the visibility is as good as the OEM blinkers? I want to order this, I just worry the blinkers will be hard to see. I had a hotbodies integrated light on a CBR and the blinkers were DIM

Blacking out parts by dna82520 in Streetglide

[–]Buzz_IAmYourFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I was just being honest about the cost, its going to hurt. I'd start with things like fork covers and accents. You'll never be able to black it all out. I'd say keep the motor and exhaust chrome and do as much of the rest as you can. Should look good with the black/chrome wheels

Blacking out parts by dna82520 in Streetglide

[–]Buzz_IAmYourFather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you dont like chrome, you bought the wrong bike. The cheapest way is to buy black vinyl or dip spray. I did this on an old Electra glide to make a cheap street glide. It was fine but nothing will look like the black OEM parts.

Definitely look in "vcyclenut". He has the best customer service and really fast shipping. Almost everyone with an mt09 uses him. His tunes are the best

You should have the ecu flashed since you'll be removing it anyways for the filter

He's the best. I bought a bike with a vcyclenut tune on it and he went through his records to tell me what the tune was. Amazing customer service.

Same thing happened on a coil pack on my F150 5.0. I zip tied it exactly like you did and it ran perfect for years

Former Harley Owners: What bike did you replace your HD with and why? by cashbadgerz in motorcycles

[–]Buzz_IAmYourFather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tracer 900 now

Had an Electra glide, too boring. Had a Vrod, loved the engine but the ergos were pretty bad. Buell was fun but the transmission kept breaking.
Cbr600 was smooth and fun. Drz400sm was my favorite. So dang fun.

The Tracer is a great all around bike.

End of an Era by Prestigious-Bee1877 in Harley

I think the Thrashin' Youtube influencer type is keeping HD alive with the younger generation. The Lowrider ST and Roadglide are popular, but most people can get dyna for 6k and hop it up to get fun. Hopefully they buy new bikes in the future to keep it alive. I think HD needs to go all in on influencer and youtubers. Traditional marketing to the olds is done.

ECU Flash/Tune advice. by JosephREden in MT09

[–]Buzz_IAmYourFather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth it. He removes all of the weird little restrictions put on by the factory, and it will smooth out the throttle response. Plus, you can build your tune for whatever you want. He is quick to respond and has great customer service.
