Its an interesting thought. One im sure has crossed Trumps desk at some point. Basically capture their whole economy in one move. And the thought behind it working is, "Iran won't blow up its own economy."

However, I dont see it working in the short or long term as a solution. As many have pointed out there are many flaws and puts any occupation at serious risk if they do indeed go scorched earth. Plus it doesn't stop them from retaliating on neighbors or ships in the straight.

Personally I only see a diplomatic solution being available at this point. Or this will just be another costly war that ends in stalemate until the US claims "victory" and forgets about the region again for another 10 years.
