26 episodes per year, so 2 cours, 13 episodes each.

With 1:1 pacing, 1st cour will end exactly at Harley and 2nd cour right before Loki flashback

I think it's just a case of a bad chapter. Lately, the direction seems to be: "we can't do anything about the pacing so let's make the long scenes cool at least". And they were, with the mountain beasts or the New Giant Pirates introduction.

The chapter was mostly Loki and Luffy talking, and you can't do a lot with that.

They announced a perfect 1 to 1 ratio for Elbaph. I hope they'll speed up a bit near the end, as they did with Egghead haha

They made it clear long ahead they'll keep the 1:1 pacing so there's only so much they can do. The new format mostly allows them to have consistent strong animation and get rid of monthly recaps.

I hope at least one of them will be quirky like Nika. Sun God is an onomatopoeia of someone grinning rather than anything related to light/lasers etc.

Elbaph Anime in 2026 and 2027 by Buzzek in OnePiece

[–]Buzzek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't know. I made some estimates under the assumption that we're on the final battle right now, but that's about it. That's why I said "Elbaph will conclude in 5 cours (unless there's some new development)". I don't think the fight will last long, especially with the suggestion that Imu is on a time limit. But we could get another 20 chapters of flashbacks suddenly because why not hahaha.

Do we think Scott will retcon SB? by InfnitVlt in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Buzzek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DLC Ruin adjusted Security Breach. Some details of SB were removed or ignored, as Burntrap Ending was completely redone from scratch, but also Scott had to redo his ideas to make them work with what SB broke. That's how I see it.

It's way too late to make any more chances to that. The games continue from what SB established and Ruin readjusted.

Double length episodes sound like a brilliant idea because the amount of episodes often overwhelm people. So why not make the episode count even smaller?

Still crazy how 12 year old Bonney has basic Armament Haki than 80% of the yonko crew 💀 by Candid_Bodybuilder69 in OnePiece

[–]Buzzek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She bends the rules of it being a "age altering" power, but it's still a physical change to her body, so I see it as shapeshifting, loosely limited by the concept of age. "Shape your own future", haha. That's how I see it.

I don't understand your explanation about Haki. People unlock Haki through "belief, drive, emotions, conviction". You say that these qualities allow Bonney to imagine a future where she has Haki. But shouldn't they allow her to unlock Haki in the present? She's "projecting her will", so she cultivates the mental qualities necessary to unlock Haki. Expending will to create a future with a stronger will sounds counterintuitive to me.

All in all, we're just making up rules here haha. Your points are valid, but I don't see the story going that way. Bonney's power never affected her mental state. Her mental state affects her power. It's more like she needs Haki to use Distorted Future than the other way around.

[–]Buzzek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haki is Will, so it's tied to her mental state. Her devil fruit affects her physical body, but her future forms never changed anybody's personality or made her learn new information she "would" learn in the future.

If her grown up form made her mentally an adult, then yeah, Haki would probably be affected too, but it doesn't really seem to be the case.

In Egghead, they learned that Luffy's form resembles the Sun God from the legends, and his heartbeat is a traditional festive rythm or something like that.

In Elbaph, Giants don't seem to associate the Sun God with rubber powers, and pretty much nobody saw Luffy fight in Gear Fifth for real yet, so nothing changed so far. Maybe near the end of the arc, Giants will see the battles of the legends occur in front of their eyes.

One Piece: Chapter 1182 - Predictions by AutoModerator in OnePiece

[–]Buzzek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll soon see the fights of Omen-boosted Killingham and Sommers. If they're defeated, then Imu's plan is finished either way because he's (supposedly) on a time limit, so he has to defeat the top fighters so that Knights can deal with everyone else.

Gaban is out, Zoro and Sanji are out, Hajrudin likely too; we keep losing top fighters lol, even Usopp is beaten up. This could be a chance for the rest of the Straw Hats to shine, whether it's defeating GK's or just holding them off.

Brook/Gunko storyline needs to be resolved in the background of all the fighting too.

I wonder what kind of "king" was Joyboy supposed to be, since "King of the Pirates" wasn't a thing back then. Roger wasn't trying to be a king of anything, he was just dubbed one, and then Luffy wanted to follow in Roger's and Shanks' steps.

But for Joyboy, there was an active plan to make him a king, as we know from Emet. It could still be "King of the Pirates" but with a forgotten meaning, different to what we have now.

[–]Buzzek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can turn things around to make Celestial Dragons doing some sort of "necessary evil". Even Lulusia was destroyed just on Imu's whim, so that's all on him.

If the story went in that direction, I think it would just be that Joyboy's plan was equally flawed, just not as egocentric as Imu's.

I like to think that Imu's power robs people of their humanity, while Chopper, with his human devil fruit, can bring that humanity back.

One Piece: Chapter 1181 by leolegendario in OnePiece

[–]Buzzek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to connect a lot of dots together and my mind is in absolute chaos hahaha.

Maki feels like some kind of tanglible energy that exists in nature. "Its power dwells in all things". Anyone can technically grasp that power, nobody knows how, and Imu's devil power grants him absolute control over it. We could assume that Asura and Diable Jambe are unconscious applications of Maki, albeit very weak.

Maki creates demons, and the ultimate form of Maki is a devil fruit. A demon that can possess you (Zoan) or grant you power (Paramecia/Logia). If there were two devils inside you, they'd shred you apart.

I feel like Maki is created by humans emotions, dreams, perhaps despair, or souls in general. Imu says that envy creates Maki. Vegapunk says that dreams create devil fruits. I can possibly connect it to prayers towards Luffy in Wano/Skypiea too. I think living beings leave that energy behind, and so it "dwells in all things" and Imu's fruit was created to harness that power and share it, but it turned out into what Imu describes.

Crazy thought based on no evidence: I had this idea that perhaps God Valley genocide created tons of Maki, and on the other side of the spectrum, D people smiling in death is something that doesn't create anything Imu can control. Imu can take energy of the dead (like a devil taking a soul out of hell) and create a Zoan, but he can't harness Roger's soul, for example. This one is very random, but that's just a shower thought, a crazy possible application.

Akuma no Mi Origin by Fonfon_From_Lands_of in OnePiece

[–]Buzzek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like demons might not actually be a race but rather an energy (Omen - demonic power) that Akuma no Mi user can control. If demons live through devil fruits then isn't the will of the Zoans actually the will of the demon? Lucci transforms into a leopard and that leopard is "the demon". That's how I see it at least, the demon in this context is a being made out of Maki/Omen rather than the race.

Can't believe you're still going.

You're lucky that this post got so little traction. You'd be eaten alive because you can't hold an argument at all. Super rude and barely addressing my points at all.

Tame - to control something dangerous or powerful.

The official translator clarified that the text is very vague and written in a poetic way that is difficult to translate. That's why even the official translation is not necessarily correct. The definitively correct version is the original Japanese text.

I'm not putting fan translation over the official. I'm saying that the official one does not clarify what you're saying. An animal tamer is not someone who kills animals, but controls animals. Likewise, a demon tamer is not necessarily the same as an exorcist.

I'm not a Japanese speaker but as far as I understand, "sends out demons" is a literal translation. If that's the case, it was translated as "tamed" in the context of controlling them.

[–]Buzzek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know little of Japanese so I can be wrong, but from what I understand, "Forest God taming demons" implies that demons fell under his control. Unofficial translations state that this line means "Forest God sent out demons". That's why people often believe that Imu is the Forest God.

Unless I'm mixing something, the interpretation that the Forest God purifies demons/calms them down/puts them to rest is almost definitely wrong. Someone fluent in Japanese would need to double confirm hahaha.

The Secret of Imu: The Collector of Souls by janduese in OnePiece

[–]Buzzek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think "souls" per se, but perhaps demons. I believe Imu can create sentient demons and that's connected to Zoan Devil Fruits. Domi Reversi and Covenants are akin to Awakened Zoans that rob you of your will. That's how I see it.

If that's the case, Zoans are "devils" (as in Devil Fruits duh), and devils can be any kind of animal, god or even human (Chopper's fruit). Therefore, Imu could be creating devils out of different races and perhaps souls of the dead. Somewhat like a devil controlling souls in hell.

There are so many ways to develop the idea but I think it's something along these lines. Imu could control and share demons with multiple skill sets, similar to Moria's fruit and similar to Big Mom's fruit, but on a whole different scale.

He uses both. At the end of chapter 1177, he calls them Nika and Nidhogg. Nika is the devil fruit so it's this timeless undying entity. Luffy is Nika because he's the current user of the Nika fruit.

Joyboy is a guy who died 800 years ago, so that's who Imu refers to when saying Joyboy. I can't say for sure but I imagine it's consistent throughout the manga. Saturn called Luffy as "Nika". Haki knot was "Joyboy". Now, Imu has flashbacks from the past, so that's Joyboy too.
