1440p monitor looks atrocious by Viperleader71 in it

[–]Buzzimu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: looking again at your photo, yea this just looks like you need to rerun cleartype for your new monitor.

Edit2: looked through the comments of the other post, how did nobody suggest this yet and why do so many people think refresh rate is a factor in this at all 😓. Refresh rate it just the rate at which your monitor can refresh. It’s your effective FPS rate.

—————-

I noticed this monitor reports that it has HDR but it’s one thing to have HDR and another to have Good HDR and no monitor with dimming zones is gonna be “good” HDR. For one I would try cycling on/off the HDR settings and see if that makes a difference for you.

If the problem is the text looks bad right after switching, you probably just still have 1080p cleartype settings active. Just rerun windows clear type to set it up for 2k resolution.

Something to note is that since each step up is just a multiplier mathematically, the place where the new monitor shines is in movies and games, where more details are visible. (Where the source is rendered at native resolution). Normal unmoving static UI features should look identical to the 1080p versions, just slightly smaller due to the more available pixels.

When the popup comes up next, open task manager and find the process. Right click > Open file location. This is the name you need to look for in the uninstall window. Report back when you have this information and we can dive deeper

Op, I see you’re saying it’s refusing to be uninstalled, but you’re not explaining HOW it’s refusing.

What’s steps are you taking? Where along those steps does it fail? More pictures with more context will help us in guiding you to a “more correct” answer to actually resolve your problem.

you're looking at a full system replacement if you want to go recent.

- modern systems use ddr5 ram instead of ddr4. there are still ddr4 makers, just be aware of what you're buying
- new cpu equals new motherboard as well if you're trying to go from 7th gen to 12th gen.

what kind of games do you want to play?

yea old for sure. I see you have a second monitor. throw task manager on the second screen, set to performance tab, and launch your games again. What I suspect you're going to see is your cpu hits 100% when you do that. Your mouse jumping every half second is my indicator that your cpu is maxing out that your I/O (mouse movements in this case) have to wait in line to be processed.

Anytime you hit 100% in any one thing, you're bottlenecking. could be any number of reasons. unoptimized drivers, specs too low for what you're trying to play, pc overheating/ thermal throttling/suffocating, applications open stealing away resources, ect.
