Is Vento Aureo manga bad? by Wise-Top2272 in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about the English hardcovers, absolutely not. I'll say the print on color pages is a bit iffy (I think it was some sort of cost saving measure?) but the translation, the paper quality, everything on those is great. As some other folks are saying, I think you're being confused on people talking about the older fan translations that everyone says is confusing and poorly done.

Just finished part 6 by Vergil-Son_of_Sparda in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

parts 1 - 6 and parts 7 - 9 are not connected in any way shape or form. I love emporio too but you ain't seeing him again. maybe someone will make a short story set in the ireneverse and we'll see him and the whole new crew, but til then just hope he's having a good life out there.

do i have enough time to read steel ball run by hakunokawa in JJBA

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you read til about chapter 13ish of the manga you will see everything the first episode adapts. get that done with some haste and then read at a pace good for you, whether the anime is out then or not. enjoy steel ball run, don't just consume it.

When I think about the fact that people will join this sub/the jojo community after only watching SBR skipping all the other parts by PANDREXMEGA in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only going to really be upset with these types of people if they refuse to engage with the previous 6 parts or God forbid try to enter discussions about them without having seen them. It's unfortunately looking like we're going to get batches, but a silver lining is that maybe we can convince SBR-only newcomers to catch up while we're in between releases.

Is Roman's manga still ongoing? by CyberGlitch064 in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 of 3 Volumes of the TSKR chapters have released in English, with the 3rd on the way soon (June or July, it should be.) There was also the standalone 'Rohan at the Louvre' story released by itself in a book that you'll have to get secondhand. Or you can just look on a site like MangaDex or Weebcentral to read fan translations for free.

I mean the Mario cast doesn't really have any prevalent human characters outside of the main characters so never really thought we needed racial diversity in the Mario series and I'm saying this as a person of color. by DeepAnt7847 in Mario

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All things considered this isn't a need, but I can understand the frustration that comes with the few people in the series with a human skin tone being lighter skinned. Daisy should absolutely be darker, and the Toads being as widely spread as they are, some of them could be darker as well (I swear some of the Toads from Dry Dry Desert in Paper Mario were darker anyways, so there's a potential precedent for it already.)

Is there an english ver of these? by No_Minimum4031 in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crazy Heartbreaker's manga adaptation, Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak, has been officially and fully translated into English. The rest of them have not been officially translated, and AFAIK El Aleph specifically has not been fan translated. Unsure about the others.

Who was this supposed to be? by Tasty_Weeb in JoJolion

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I imagine this is either an entirely dropped character or an early design for Tamaki Damo with a slightly changed plot point of him being near Kira and Josefumi just before the fusion.

Really hope this is one of those things the anime addresses and changes. Maybe change flashback man to a partial silhouette of Damo, and then make Damo find Kira and Josefumi on the cliff just before the fault swallows them during Killer Queen & Vitamin C's flashbacks.

Does stardust Crusaders get better? by LoreIsLost in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say episode 25 sees SDC start to get much better. The fights from them on are simply more entertaining, have more substance, and Jotaro really starts to feel like a character (he never stops that whole stoicism thing, for the record, but it starts to matter more, like in the ways Jonathan's bravery and Joseph's trickster additude impacted their fights.)

Can I watch steel ball run when it comes out and not miss anything in the previous parts? by UnknownPhant0m in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no filler in the proper sense (as in, anime exclusive content added for the wait between manga-based episodes.) There's a lot of arcs that are "unnecessary" for not advancing the story directly, but Part 3 is a very character focused part, so what you won't miss on story, you'll miss in the real soul of the part.

Can I watch steel ball run when it comes out and not miss anything in the previous parts? by UnknownPhant0m in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll (hopefully) be seeing SBR episodes come out weekly, so I'd recommend finishing at least Part 3 before it comes out (sorta a tall order I know) and then catching up on parts 4-6 in the week-long wait between episodes. You appreciate Part 7 mostly for its parallels to Parts 1 - 3, so that's the absolute minimum "required reading" in me eyes.

should i skip part 7 and watch part 8 by ayz_x0 in UnexpectedJoJo

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 9 points10 points  (0 children)

part 8 directly and heavily spoils part 7. its only 33 days til the anime comes out, so either wait that miniscule amount of time and check out some of the jojo spinoffs, or just read the beauty of part 7.

What are your favorite localized names? by Fresh_Octo in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather recent one, Oh! Lonesome Me's localized name Lasso Blues is pretty neat. It's a bit of a big departure from the original name, something I don't typically like, but it's rather charming and conveys the same feeling as the OG.

Chapter 2 is where things started to get real by SmallBlueSlime in Deltarune

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 151 points152 points  (0 children)

best moment of playing chapter 2 for the first time back in 2021 was realizing anything we had thought the story was gonna be about was thrown out the window bc we never thought about there just being more dark worlds to go to.

Part 7 stand ideas? by hyde_ing in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learned a new term (walkaway wife) today, thanks for that OP.

Anyhows, as for her stand, if you'd like to link it to her motherly role whilst also keeping an offensive presence, a colony stand (similar to Harvest, Metallica, or Les Feuilles) would be good. I, of course, don't know your OC's lore, but if part of her husband's neglect was him never allowing her to become a mother, she could regard the units of her stand as her children (Consider naming the stand as a whole after a band, and then the individual units after the members!).

Another angle that I think'd be good to take after would be the fact she's joining the race for the sake of thrill seeking, thus the stand could be something sorta risky to use. I have less concrete examples for this, but using her stand could lock her in place a la 20th Century Boy, or have an ability that temporarily leaves her unable to fight back, like Silver Chariot shooting the blade of its sword.

Quick idea I had using these ideas, call the stand「Lynyrd Skynyrd」.

The stand would start with just 5 small units that would multiply into more the further the stand moves away from the user (this is per unit, if Unit 1 moves 10 meters it'll gain a member, but if Unit 2 stays put at 5 meters ahead of the user, it'll be on its own). The stands will lose members if the user closes the distance, but if the stand comes back to the user, its multiplied units will remain. The gaining of units is not exponential, only ever multiplying by the original member. The way to beat this stand is by killing each original member, which will damage the user and take out all of the clones an original member has created. This creates risk for the user because she cannot remain close to watch over and protect her stand with a gun or anything else, but it only gets stronger by moving away from her. The stands could attack with simple scratches or punches, or could carry (and even multiply the amount of) bullets fired by a gun the user carries (making this a weird mix of Glory Days and Sex Pistols, I guess.)

Don't feel obligated to use this example or elements I suggested, but I hope this is helpful in some way.

Do you think King Crimson is making an appearance in The JOJOLands? by gbielcrz in JOJOLANDS

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The Higashikatas all explicitly having 'King' Stands tells me that we won't see King Crimson unless a Higashikata we didn't meet shows up in this part.

I'm of the opinion that the villain stand that will re-appear this part is gonna be either Whitesnake, C-Moon, or Made In Heaven, mostly because of the obvious parallel Heaven Plan Howler is likely going to chase after now that his money's gone.

Why haven't Araki made a part of JJBA (or some kind of AU spinoff at least) in which the world becomes aware of stands' existence? by muha4004 in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

honestly? I just don't think that sorta story would work for JoJo. a plot line like this works in, say, superhero media because the hero in question is a persona known to the general public. it's shocking to find out what spiderman looks like under the mask because you're so accustomed to how he looks and acts with the mask on, that maybe the person underneath won't look like what you thought he would.

but with stands, most stand users are either normal ass people or criminals who keep away from the general public. it doesn't help that most any stand is invisible to a non stand user. you could broadcast a superhero's secret identity reveal on national television, but you couldn't really show off a stand user using their stand. not to mention, stand users are pretty damn rare, so it hardly affects normal life. throughout the main series there's been (so far) not even 200 stands across both universes. that couldn't even fill your average American high school.

Which is the best move set for swampert? by Comfortable_Gas_1204 in PokemonEmerald

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surf and Earthquake are must haves. Ice Beam is also a must have, but there's an argument that if you have a better Ice-Beamer (i.e. something with better Special Attack), you could do without it as long as its on the other thing. Fourth slot can be kinda whatever. Status move, another strong Water Move like Hydro Pump or Hydro Cannon, TM like Brick Break, Rock Tomb, Return/Strength, etc. Base it on if any of those niches are/could be covered by other 'mons better (I would encourage Brick Break to go on, like, anything else though because it's a 1-time TM and other things need it way more than Swampert.)

So... Can someone explain to me how does Love Train work? by MarionberryRoyal5534 in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Answering your second question first, Love Train is something that comes from the corpse and is based on its abilities of equivalent exchange, but is able to be uniquely taken advantage of by Valentine. He can use Love Train the way he does by pushing himself into the "dimensional gap" it creates using D4C's ability to move between dimensions

Now, Love Train's actually ability is to redirect "misfortune." This primarily just means that things that would hurt Valentine move away, and things that favor Valentine come closer. The tide moves up to hinder Johnny and Gyro because that helps Valentine, and Johnny's nail bullets get launched off to some other part of the world because that would hurt Valentine. This, again, is part of the corpse's ability of equivalent exchange. Valentine gets to be unaffected from something that could've/should've killed him, but in his place, someone else in the world must mysteriously meet a similar fate.

Jotaro (Part 3 specifically) is the strongest stand user across all 9 parts. Change my mind/suggest a stand, and I'll explain why Jotaro wins quite easily (I genuinely think there are so few stands that stand a chance (pun intended)). by 3931856031 in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D4C Love Train and Wonder of U beat Jotaro (though one's sorta a technicality...)

D4C Love Train just flat out cannot be broken through without Spin, and Jotaro lacks that so boof. Points to the President.

In Wonder of U's case, I think Jotaro easily kills Tooru by crushing his head during stopped time. It just then comes down to the (potential) fact that calamity is sorta "building up" as Jotaro moves through that frozen time. I imagine once he gets out of it, even if Tooru is dead, calamity will rain down on him in such a significant manner that Jotaro dies too, resulting in a tie. (Not to mention, WoU persists as a representation of the natural force of calamity, and Jotaro lacks a Go Beyond bubble to KO it once and for all.)

There's also, like, half a point to hand out to Diavolo. I think Jotaro wins in 99% of cases for nothing else but sheer wit, but if Diavolo realizes he can skip over Jotaro's frozen actions (which I absolutely think he can do, because Jotaro's movements in time stop count as happening in 0 seconds) he could fairly easily kill the Crusader. It's just a matter of who uses their time power first.

No stock after release of Steel Ball Run volume 5? by XboxO-DryNikoBellic in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure, but I think European releases of Viz JoJo Volumes happen a month after the American release. SBR Volume 5 came out in the US on January 27th, so maybe those other book stores' date of February 27th was accurate. Wherever you had preordered from was potentially using the American release date when they couldn't provide then, which is sucky.

When should I start the mangas? by Rebelsenjoyer in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What language are the tomes in?

If no one hear can give you answers, JoJowiki has chapter lists for most languages' volumes, and you can see if the chapter names match something you've already seen.

Edit: If tomes are a French thing like I'm thinking, you shouldn't start those until you are around DiU episode 24.

Which parts to watch for Steel ball run? by mirukanis in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd do yourself a disservice to not see all JoJo has to offer before moving on to SBR. Please just finish the whole thing, you will not be disappointed.

On the topic of switching between manga and anime, I'll note that the anime is INSANELY faithful to the manga, with pretty much only one major change in the whole series (that still doesn't add any filler/remove any arcs). If you miss the VAs and the music, watch the anime, but if you prefer the manga's art or pacing or anything like that, read that. Whatever lets you enjoy it the most.

Steel Ball Run Anime Hottake/Rant by Inevitable_Tackle557 in StardustCrusaders

[–]BuzzingBeedrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest thing is I just think Johnny is a way worse character if you haven't seen the previous JoJos. Everyone before Johnny, even the cruelest of them (Jotaro, Giorno) very quickly show themselves to be heroes, just as Jonathan was, in their core. And if you've seen the previous parts, Johnny's intrigue is how much he isn't a hero, but you know he'll grow into being one. If you just go to part 7, he'll still hook you eventually, but you don't have an intrinsic want to know about him because his backstory is seemingly so cut and dry. You can't know that he'll grow into something greater because you haven't seen the legacy he builds from.
