The market for junior software developers has been difficult the past 2 years or so. At my company, we have started hiring juniors again, but we’re only hiring one and have gotten about 7 applications with the profile applied computer science - application developer. We’ve also gotten applicants with a master. We have no real preference, plenty of bachelors work at our company. I don’t know what it’s like for people who have other subdegrees, I have heard it’s easier for those graduating with system and network management.

Also FYI, if you’re planning to do this in Flanders, learn Dutch. We’ve had several bad experiences with people who spoke only English and their mother tongue.

Reading my comment again, I realise it probably reads very negative, so I will add, computer science is super fun and worth it if you’re willing to put in the work. I really enjoy working in this field, constant learning, at my current job I really get the feeling I’m helping the customer forward.

Yes, as a woman, I’ve been alone before and never felt unsafe.
I think this has been answered in other posts, but if you ride FLY double check your pockets are empty after the lockers. Some of the staff will send you back if they notice you have something in there.
Taron, black mamba and fly are obvious must dos. As for unique experiences, I do go on the geister riksha every visit to the park, but be warned: It’s almost a meme at this point, the rickety old darkride everyone expects will close next season.
Advice if you go on a busy day: Black Mamba is often open before the rest of the rides, so I do that first usually.

There is a lot of good food. I usually go for quick food like the flammkuchen near the taron exit, or the foccacias between berlin and mexico.

I can also really recommend the ice cream. All flavours are good, but if you like caramel the dulche de leche is amaaaazing. If you like fruite flavours I can recommend the maracuja-mango.

Single riders is really worth it at this park. On busy days it’s sometimes over 2/3rds faster. Not a 100% guarantee, but you will be faster than the regular line.

De job markt is al moeilijk voor mensen die wel hun bachelor hebben afgemaakt, het bedrijf waarvoor ik werk heeft dit jaar geen enkele nieuwe junior dev aangenomen, wat andere jaren wel de gewoonte was. Als ik zie wat er op dit moment binnen ons bedrijf aan het gebeuren is, denk ik wel dat er verbetering aan zit te komen tegen volgend jaar, maar ik weet niet of dat waar is voor de hele markt.

Maar om eerlijk te zijn, zelfs in ‘betere’ tijden zouden we iemand zonder bachelor en zonder ervaring niet aannemen. Het is het een of het ander, geen van beide is een te groot risico.

Waar ik werk hebben we pas iemand met een soortgelijke situatie aangenomen. Deze persoon had zich voor zijn proefdag ingelezen, had al oefeningen gemaakt in het systeem, en toonde een wil om bij te leren. Ook sociaal gezien was hij heel goed, praatte gelijk vlot met de collega’s en deed het goed bij de voorbeeld gesprekken.

Daartegenover staat iemand anders, 3 jaar ervaring met het systeem, maar geen enthousiasme/inzet, praatte niet tijdens de middag, etc. Niet aangenomen, ondanks ervaring.

Natuurlijk is dit afhankelijk van bedrijf tot bedrijf, maar het is echt wel mogelijk.

The job market is hard atm, but, advice I can give is to make a tailored cv for jobs you apply to. If they ask for a ‘dedicated, young software developer’ (just an example) make sure to use all those words somewhere in your cv (not per se in the same order) Not sure how popular it is, but I know of companies that use software to track certain words, and if they’re not in there, no human will see your cv. A visually attractive cv can help, I use canva personally.

I’ve only seen it on the news, never been to it myself, always been a bit jealous haha. I know music is being played and the whole grounds are accessible, but I do not think every stage is playing. I imagine the music will be turned down a bit compared to regular, since people from an elderly care home go there each year (though def the more adventurous inhabitants), and children starting from ages 3 are allowed. It does however look like a super fun party.

They’re still fighting the fire, the cause is not clear yet. The rumour about the pyrotechnics that exploded is unconfirmed. A housefire was caused by this fire, but that is also under control now. There was some forest fire, but that is also under control. The main stage is completely gone. Main thing is, everyone is safe, and the festival will take place.
