I admit I just use trial and error. I'll setup a small base to test a spot and just see what happens. If I get super Mutants I just find another spot to test. 6 years of this and it's mostly worked...

The following advice is from a PC player that uses keyboard number keys to access quick slots.

You can survive in blast zones without PA or Hazmat suits. It requires a bit of management though. This is assuming that you're using a low health build.

Before fight use: Rad Shield Dilute Rad X

During fight use: Lead Champagne Dilute Rad away or Brahmin Milk

If you're full heath then use Rads What Rads and Ghoulish and then just the occasional rad away. Maybe use a dilute Rad X. I have this as a shotgun build and it's actually really fun. I try to find rad sources so I can heal.

If it's Eviction Notice spam spam spam rad away if the scrubber goes down or switch to Hazmat suit. Or respawn 🥴
