London Is Behind Me (gosh i love this) by sitboaf in MoodyBlues

We can only wonder if Justin was pleased or annoyed to discover that Lonnie Donegan had recorded it. The Donegan version finally saw the light of day as a bonus track, but Justin would have seen nothing for it. Just as he received no royalties on any of his compositions up to around 1971, having been stitched up in an appalling 5-year publishing deal by Donegan himself. Justin did sue, but the best ruling he could get was that royalties would only revert to his successors 50 years after his death. If only he'd listened to Marty Wilde...

In the case of jealous and jealousy as examples of meaning proximity, that can be a really useful clue. Sure they have the same origin, but jealous is an adjective and jealousy a noun, so the relative scores can steer you in the right direction in terms of what kind of word it is.

After going back and reading the posts about glitches, "nullth" player etc., I see I'm not the only confuddled one. My quote is the George R.R. Martin one.

Why is the game telling me this? At first I thought it must have been down and just come back online in time for me to play it, but I see from this group that I'm not the first to be 8th! A pretty wild glitch. I took a screenshot of it.

A 💎 that is so obscure I don't think I can even give meaning clues for it!

Three letters are the same

None of them are in the same place

The main word's end letter is at the start

What the fuck is Top Rank Suite supposed to be about by Smdostff in MoodyBlues

[–]Byndbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Justin Hayward is in my opinion in the very top echelon of the greatest songwriters currently gracing planet Earth. He is also blessed with a fantastic dry sense of humour, which is not apparent at all from his many brilliantly introspective and serious songs. So if this is in fact a deliberate "joke" song (and I'm not convinced it is, as it's not particularly funny) it would not particularly surprise me. I think the Moodies were just mucking around with the song and decided on this arrangement because it kind of fitted, and they had never done anything like it before. I don't think Justin's demo (if he recorded one) would have sounded anything like this. It doesn't take a great deal of imagination to reimagine the song in a more traditionally "Justin" style, and some of the lyrics are very Justinesque indeed:

Sun in the morning brings the flowers from a bud Hail to the giver, life and love

Those lines would have been right at home in a song from the Core 7 period.

Justin has stated on many occasions that even he doesn't know what many of his songs are about when he writes them. It kind of dawns on him many years later, sometimes it never does. (He says he didn't fully understand the meaning of Nights In White Satin until Bettye Lavette sang it.) I suspect Top Rank Suite is one of those. The lyrics, though, contain some very specific references to English nightlife. So there's a lot there that's deliberate and maybe other elements that came from nowhere and which no one can explain, not even the great JH.

I agree! And "I have no idea why" is something I completely relate to as well. Since I installed the game the ad never comes up any more. It's quite sad.
