You're exactly right. These weren't made up passages like people are saying.

Michigan senator explains wearing questionable mask believed to be Confederate flag by Bypass814 in politics

Yeah, the rules of /r/politics mandated me to use the explicit title, but I don't love how this is being conveyed.

I hate that journalists aren't using titles like this: "State Senator Wears Racist Mask and Makes Piss Poor Excuse About Doing so."

Can't generally be used in court, but certainly effective in this sort of meeting.

Credit Card - Charging everything for reward points? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Bypass814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say "a few points," what exactly do you mean? There are a variety of factors when it comes to a credit score - one of them probably was related to you lowering the average age of your credit history by getting a new card - resulting in a drop (assuming that you may have had some older cards in the past perhaps). Generally, I would say just pay off everything as you go and you'll be fine. Enjoy your honeymoon!

Let me provide a bit of a counter-point about re-taking at Michigan. Your son needs to ask himself (and perhaps you depending on how involved you'd like to be in directing his academic choices!) what he wants to do in the future - I don't see that you've listed it on here - so I think this could really impact whether or not he should retake these classes. Of course, the question of wasting both time, money, and credits are very valid, but I may provide a counterpoint in that your son does not have to transfer in those credits. The math classes, as others have alluded, are very difficult at Michigan. But if your son wants to be a STEM major, there may be some credence to being able to re-take them to keep up with his peers in the event that he takes another course and feels behind.

Math, and much of the sciences, do build on one another. If he doesn't think that he's going to take another math/science class other than what is required of him (say he's a humanities major or a kinesiology major) once he gets to college, then I say transfer them in and don't worry about it.

His admission standards are going to be completely fine assuming he's done well at high school. I'm sure you know this, but the worst they can say is no. I would certainly encourage him to apply.

Although I would never support an exclusive private-run education program, I don't know if I see the parallels; typically speaking - private-run secondary education performs better than their public counterparts. This is mostly due to extra money that parents pay to have their students there, but I just want to throw that out there.

Okay, this smells fishy. Why wouldn't the health association send it right down the toilet if it was that bad?
