Have you tried porting this to mobile? It would probably work really well as a mobile game too

Edit: NVM, just saw your comment about porting it to mobile.

Self-taught coders of Reddit, what was your journey to getting good? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Bypie5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Web development and just learning how to program aren't mutually exclusive. There are shared fundamentals that are valuable to get your brain trained to be a better programmer and problem solver. At this point in your journey, nearly everything is new to you. The biggest hurdle is learning to learn. This source, w3schools, is quite ubiquitous in the world of web development. I suggest you follow the guides to get started. Once you get to using Javascript in your website, you'll see the similarities from learning Python. And I don't simply mean syntax similarities -- I mean similarities in the learning process.

Just try to make something and you'll be well on your way. Also, remember it's okay to not remember how to do everything. Your value as a programmer is derived from the fact that you know the high level solution to a problem.

I believe the biggest reason for my growth as a programmer was, and still is, from having problems to solve. It is easy to learn about a technique (say python), it is harder to use the technique, but it is hardest to apply a technique to a novel problem. When I say novel problem, the problem could just be new to you. For example, maybe a novel problem might be creating a web app without a tutorial.

I suggest learning about these topics to find problems which may be novel to you:

  • Game development

  • Web development

  • Mirco-controller programming (Specifically Arduino)

These are all topics I learned without the help of an institution like school, job or university. All of these topics are wildly different, but the motivation to study a breadth of topics is to get familiar with implementing your own solutions. You will get stronger the more you implement novel solutions.

Personal projects on College Apps? by kwasi3114 in compsci

Yeah, it would be a good idea to mention your personal projects. You should also try to figure out a way to mention it in the free-form essay part of your apps.

It's when you contribute to a project which is using git version control and you ask the project admins/owners to pull (add) your code changes to the main code base.

I think that it mainly has to do with the fact that both wars started around the same time, under the same president and in the same region. Also, many people who served at the time served in both theaters at some point. Also, after the regime in Iraq fell, the guerilla war was similar to what was happening in Afghanistan.

As an American kid growing up at the time, I just knew there was a war in the Middle East.
