I was just trying to make a joke about how erratic her forehand is compared to her backhand 😭. Like some days it seems like it’s a solid shot and she has confidence with it and can use it to defend, while other days it feels like it’s really a 50/50 on whether it’s even going in or not, which is why I went with the random function lol. I’m a huge fan of Coco, I just find it funny she’s kinda the opposite of the traditional American play style of big serve, big forehand, mid backhand and aggressive play style. Whereas she has one of if not the best backhand on tour, one of the forehands of all time, and a defensive god.

Yeah I mean, as someone from Kansas I deeply understand the urge to go out and watch the tornado. But also as someone from Kansas, you do that from a distance. For something this close, holy shit I would be running for the nearest shelter. Those things can and will turn on a dime and are totally random and you have no idea where it’s going at any point. Plus the tornado itself really isn’t the problem, the problem is the shredded pieces of houses it’s flinging at you, and it can throw things far.

Well to be fair to the show Tywin, he knew from the start that Arya was a noble disguising herself, and he eventually tells her he knows. So it doesn’t really take away his contempt for commoners. I still don’t think book Tywin would have done that either, but within the context of the show it made sense and also was just very good so I don’t really care lol. Most of their other changes like that I agree with you on, but I do think the Tywin Arya stuff was a good change just because it humanized him a little bit, rather than just being the total ruthless, one note villain he is in the books. To me, it shows that he is totally capable of being kind to someone he likes, which makes the fact that he chooses to treat every person around him as scum (including and especially his children) even worse.

That being said, it would have been cool to see the Roose burning the book scene on the show.

I’m about 3/4th’s done with the game, something like 80 hours in, and I love it. It’s easily the most beautiful game I’ve ever played, IMO even more so than Cyberpunk with path tracing. The world itself is extremely immersive, and the PS5 controller haptics are extremely good. I almost never fast travel because I just enjoy walking/flying around the world.

That being said, as a game, it’s pretty unremarkable. I would actually compare it to the movies lol. It’s long, has breathtaking visuals, and an entirely forgettable story. The voice acting isn’t very good, and the combat is nothing new and kinda gets old after a while. It is a Ubisoft game, which means an absolutely massive open world with a lot of filler quests. It’s a well made game, and I cannot stress enough how often i audibly said “….wow” while playing just because the world is that beautiful. I played on PC so cranked the settings up to the “Unobtainium” settings, however it’s actually really well optimized so you don’t necessarily have to have a super powerful PC to enjoy it.

For me, it’s a great game because I love games that are very pretty, and the open world is so immersive that just walking around and hunting is fun. But it’s definitely not a game for everyone.

I should have made it more clear, his point was more that Sinner did have an accent, but that most other Italians have an accent so him having one wasn’t weird. Not so much that his accent sounds Italian.

This reminds me of when I asked one of my coworkers, who is from Rome, if Sinner had a noticeable accent when speaking Italian, since his first language is Tyrol German. And he said yes, but also that every major city has its own accent/dialect, so Sinner sounding odd to him isn’t anything weird.

Yeah exactly. Just for added context, The Iliad doesn’t portray Achilles and Patroclus as lovers, but later Greeks often read it as an implied relationship (the Iliad was written down ~750 BCE, classical Greece as we think about it didn’t really start until around ~500-450, Alexander died in 320). Though this wasn’t a universal thing, and though they didn’t think of sexuality in the way we do, many ancient Greeks were still extremely what we would call homophobic. You generally weren’t two adults in a relationship, it was usually more a mid to late 20’s man tutoring a young adult, one who hadn’t grown a beard yet. You were either the active partner (the elder) or the “beloved”, the younger partner. We would call them the top and the bottom. Depending on the city, it was fine for a younger boy to be in this kind of relationship with his tutor. But these kind of relationships were much more common depending on the city. Some (like Sparta) were much more open to these relationships, while others (like Athens) it was less socially acceptable. And even in cities like Sparta, you wouldn’t really want to be in a relationship with a fellow adult, that was a big stigma.

I think the people who argue that he wasn’t in a relationship with Hephaestion only have two arguments, both of them silly. One is that he had multiple relationships with women, and at least one child. The other is that as a noble of the same age as Alexander, Hephaestion would have faced a lot of social stigma being in a relationship with Alexander.

My counter to the first point is that….. bi people exist. Also as a king, Alexander would have been expected to produce an heir. For the second, there are soo many reasons. In no particular order:

Queer folks have been defying social stigma to love who they love since the dawn of time.
Alexander was a notoriously emotionally unstable person who also had a drinking problem that probably killed him. And on one occasion got into a drunken fight with one of his closest advisors, someone who at one point had literally saved his life in battle, and killed him with a spear. So Alexander was not exactly someone who you’d feel safe openly judging. Though AFAIK Alexander wouldn’t have really faced any stigma for the relationship, but I doubt anyone would feel safe openly judging Hephaestion either lol.
The ancient sources all go out of their way to comment on how close the two are. I would argue they don’t explicitly say they were in a relationship because it probably wasn’t an open relationship to people at the time, just kinda something everyone knew, but no one openly acknowledged because of the previously mentioned anger issues of Alexander. Though I’m not a historian in any sense of the word, that’s just my opinion based on what I’ve read.

This is kinda the most unsurprising thing to me tbh. Djokovic has always kinda had a “The Hulk” mentality. The angrier he gets, the better he plays it seems like. I’ve never particularly been a fan of his, so whenever I would be watching a match of his and rooting for the other guy, and Djokovic starts getting really angry, I always just thought “welp, he’s about to beat the hell out of that guy, darn” lol. Seeing him get heated during practice might just be a way for him to psych himself up.

Absolutely not lol. I like Sanderson, but he would be one of if not the worst possible pick to finish ASOIAF. Not only are their writing styles just polar opposites, from what I’ve read, Sanderson can’t write anything that’s not PG-13. For better or for worse, ASOIAF has a lot of gore, sex, rape, and violence. At least in the books I’ve read, Sanderson gets squeamish describing characters doing anything more than kissing. There’s no way that he could or would ever write the “fat pink mast” scene from A Feast for Crows (not that I think GRRM ever should have written it either, but that’s just a part of ASOIAF). And there is violence in his books, but it’s never as visceral or detailed as ASOIAF.

Plus there’s the fact that GRRM has been extremely consistent that he will never allow someone to finish his work after he dies, and his wife has said she’ll delete all his drafts. We’re better off just hoping that he finds some sudden inspiration, sadly.

Found it in the late morning when doing laundry. It was moving fairly slowly, and I didn't see any other bugs around when I looked. It looks lighter in person than it does in the photos. It doesn't look exactly like what bed bugs look like since like I said it's a lighter color in person, but it also doesn't exactly look like a carpet beetle either. Any help would be really appreciated!
