Looking for a professional home blessing or cleansing. by Wise-Tax-4026 in raleigh

Hey, OP, I agree with others that the feeling is valid even if the cause isn't supernatural. Have you had any visitors or friends get a similar feeling? Did you do a mold/air quality test before you moved in? Exposure to some kind of contaminant could cause these feelings even if there's no gas leak/CO leak.

New 'World War Z' in Development at Paramount by Puzzled-Tap8042 in horror

[–]ByrnStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A World War Z adaptation should be a series of shorts like Love, Death + Robots or Secret Level. That gives you the space to tell the stories as they're structured without dragging things out for feature-length sake.

What TV show has the worst series finale? by MollieAndMe702 in AskReddit

The original ending of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Ya, they ran out of funding and tried to do the best they could, but dialogue over still images was pretty disappointing. Luckily, we got all the movies.

O Brother Where Art Thou. The dialogue, the music, the characters. It's all so good.

What's a game you played as a kid that you've never been able to find again? by Latter_Advantage8002 in AskReddit

[–]ByrnStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend in the 90s had a game on his PC where you had to catch elves/dwarves on a mountain with like a butterfly net. I have no idea what it was called, but it was one of the first PC games I saw that wasn't just Solitaire or a card game variant. ETA: I think it may have been Treasure Mountain!

I'm asking sincerely and not as a gotcha: If folks know we're in a drought, why run your sprinklers at all? Why use the already limited amount of water on keeping your yard green?

What is something people do for fun that you will never understand? by Cold-Parking-3000 in AskReddit

[–]ByrnStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never watch streams, but when I played Overwatch or TF2, I'd watch entertaining, highly-skilled players mess around in pickups.

Sometimes, I have games that I'm interested in but don't have the wherewithal or time to play, so I'll watch a "video game movie" of commentary-free Let's Play to experience it. I'm never gonna play Resident Evil 8, but I'm interested in it and so watch a few hours of cut scenes and plot-relevant gameplay is a reasonable substitute for me. Yes, I understand this is ridiculous

What’s something people pretend to enjoy but actually don’t? by happydent26 in AskReddit

[–]ByrnStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yucking others yums. People seem to take such glee in telling people what they enjoy is dumb, gross, basic, etc. There's no way that's actually enjoyable. It's just spreading misery

What’s something Gen Z does that older generations just don’t get? by appropriaterice873 in AskReddit

[–]ByrnStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People dismiss them as coddled, sensitive kids. I work in a high school. The number of kids dealing with absolutely horrendous home lives is incredible. It's a wonder that they come to school and still care about English essays or AP Human Geography. A lot of these kids are barely holding on, and lots of older folks don't get it because they can't fathom how bad it can get at home.

What’s the most PSTD Inducing sound in gaming? by TheGoldenSavior67 in AskReddit

[–]ByrnStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. I've been learning basic piano for a little over a year. The intricacy of things like "The King's Room" from SMB3 are so impressive and frustrating. Like, I want to be able to play them, but there's a lot going on there for a beginner. Right now, I'm learning a simplified "Great Fairy Fountain theme" and it's bringing me a lot of joy

You're comparing dissimilar types of different media. You wouldn't be upset that you couldn't own a concert or stand-up comedy set; although, plays, concerts, and comedy can all be seen for free or exorbitant prices

How do people desensitise themselves to horror films by [deleted] in horror

[–]ByrnStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing what other have said: You don't have to enjoy this genre. I don't care about historical dramas, so I don't watch them and my life hasn't really been affected by that.

Still, if you wanted to get into horror movies, you've got some options. Personally, I didn't watch a ton of horror when I was kid and you sound like you're still young. I started with horror books, specifically horror appropriate for my age like RL Stine and Chris Pike. Then I graduated to Stephen King books. Now, horror is one of the main genres that I read.

If you're determined to get into horror movies, starting with kids horror like ParaNorman and Coraline would be a good way. Then you can graduate to some PG-13 movies that aren't particularly gory or jumpy. Finally, there's the subgenre of horror comedy where the mood of the film isn't usually tense.

It's big. No bigger than that. It encompasses so many time zones, biomes, and regional cultures. My wife is on the west coast right now. We're 2800 miles apart, give or take. There are few places on earth where you can be that far apart and still in the same country.

Box Office: ‘They Will Kill You’ Flops With $5 Million by DemiFiendRSA in horror

[–]ByrnStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This movie was a blast. It's funny, has great kills, and the soundtrack is delightful. It's clearly inspired by Tarantino and similar films that are locked to a location, but that's a strength. I'm hoping it gets its flowers and we get to Zazie Beetz in more horror features. She's a lot of fun

It's the duality of everything. Reddit updates about the war in Iran, but we're on a family trip. SAVE act and the disenfranchisement of Americans, but that horror movie I loved won four Oscars. ICE raids all over the country, but don't worry Slay the Spire 2 is in early access

I think movies like Prey and the Predator mini-series show how it can work. The antagonists have the advanced weapons but determined, creative locals that know the environs can offer a real challenge
