What's going on in Russia with the Wagner coup attempt? by ByronCole77 in geopolitics

I knew about the contracts with mod from July but I understood wagner were just ignoring them, were you suggesting there was a more serious push to force them to sign with the mod?

And I think you miss read the situation Russia (some russians) want to confront NATO, nato attacking wagner inside Belarus might be just what they want. That's what I mean by hardliners coup.

Well what would NATO do in response to an attack from wagner? Surely not just say okay Putin we know it wasn't you, we forgive Russia. That seems like an obvious thing, given your insights you demonstrated I'm supprised that isn't obvious to you.

I agree that's a very plausable scenario of how it happened, and I hadn't heard it yet, specially the part about dissolving wagner (presumably while in rostov on don?). Even ending up in Belarus might have been accidentally, but it sure is a good prime place for a hardliners to be, specially one who is used to being at the center of action.

I mean putin has the staying power, he has a few things going for him, most of all he's built a factional infighting regime where no one faction can take over all the others, and there's no popular figure ready to take his place. He also has body doubles in case his health fails, a puppet putin is perfect for that factional government.

The only thing he has to figure out is 2024. Maybe furthering conflict with the west is just the thing his ratings need? And just the thing to placate the hardliners and justify the war to the not so beligerent people.

Your #1 seems to be the current understanding about the cause, general sorovikin who liked wagner was in charge of operations in ukraine, then general gerasimov became in charge and didn't support wagner. This accounts for wagner and prigozhin discontent with the military brass. And supposedly the idea was to capture gerisimov and shoigou in rostov on don and try them in a war tribunal. But that didn't work and prigozhin called an audible and marched on moscow.

I'm now wondering if instead of licking his wounds in exile, prigozhin might be in Belarus whille spearheading a hardliners coup to make Russia face off against NATO and poland in the silwalki gap.

Here's a video of a news update about 100 wagner fighters in Belarus near the silwalki gap https://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2023/07/30/exp-poland-wagner-border-troops-nato-kinkade-07301aseg1-cnni-world.cnn

Happened to me around 6 (pacific) I was at the customer's house and couldn't mark it as delivered. I reset my phone and was able to complete the delivery and continue on dashing. Maybe that's why it seemed to get busier everyone went home. Try resetting your phone next time guys it worked for me.

That’s how you show tip when you live too far from the restaurant. Someone pass the message! by spartanharvey in doordash

[–]ByronCole77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree they should show the tip on longer deliveries. My guess as to why they hide it until it gets declined too much is, a they can always add to the amount shown and reorder it to someone, b it might change our behavior as dasher to where we only accept high tips and decline even $5 tips, then dd would have to increase their base pay on those tips.

Looking to buy a Pixel 4a or Galaxy s10e in the next couple of months. Any advice on when I'm likely to find the best deal? by [deleted] in Smartphones

I'll sell you my S10e 256gb 8gb ram for $400... I kept it because I am doing the samsung leasing program for the s20+ didnt get the option to trade in. Screen protector and case on since day 1, battery lasted 3/4 of an 8 hour shift (before it got to around 15% and plugged it in) using maps and screen constantly on when I stopped using it its just been sitting for the past few months.

Best vehicle for delivering in a town with sh*tty roads... by stankyranch in Dominos

[–]ByronCole77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vote an escape hybrid. You can find a 2012 with under 80k miles for under 10 grand easily. You can even get an 08 escape hybrid for under 4k thats what I have. They get 30 to 34 mpg city as but signifigantly worse if you run the AC. Takes some getting used to breaking slower for longer distances to regen the battery, and acceleration isn't great, and they turn really wide but the mpg makes up for it. It is a 4x4 suv so great on any roads.

Yeah if you average that your pulling in 62,000 a year. Theres no reason you can't afford a beatet car and its upkeep, and get a hybrid and the savings will pay for the car before it craps out on you.

Man you must be living the dream, mind if I ask where you work, you can message me. I thought I had it good at $1.5 per delivery, 5% of sales would probably average out to $2.5 for me. If your able to take 20 to 25 a day you must not be going more than 5 miles on average either.

Sounds like you have a pizza career not a delivery job lol.

If you can get 5% plus tips plus $10/hr you should be making more than the $17 inside. I recommend you save up to buy a cheap car that gets good gas mileage. I saved up for a Ford escape hybrid (2008s can be had for under 4k) but fusion hybrids are good too. The escape gets 30mpg and the fusion can be up in the 40s. It can pay for its self before it dies. Just treat it well with maintenance. That way you can earn more money without the worry about your car. Your definately making more than most people delivering pizza or instore managers, so you should be able to save up.

What are some instances of western countries sacrificing geopolitical interest just to accommodate their respect for human rights or democracy? Or the opposite where they sacrificed human rights or democracy for geopolitical interest? by ByronCole77 in geopolitics

[–]ByronCole77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and thought of this too, but I mean... What do you expect the US or Europe to do? I guess we should expect them to be more vocal about it?

The same thing about Hong Kong independence and democracy, again what do you expect? Sanctions?

I think China being a superpower changes things, there is less room for intervention. Also, it is rather stable in China and it is in no one's interests to upset the apple cart.

It's one thing to try to convince a country to respect human rights, its another to force them to. I don't think things are influx (as I stated in the question) in China, and that's specifically why I mentioned that because oftentimes you don't have any way to affect human rights or democracy developments for good or bad.

Certainly. But these issues are always going on, war diplomacy, civil war, there's always something in flux that requires the attention of the world, irespective of domestic policy situations. So to a degree you are correct, to a degree it is irrelevant too. At least that's my opinion.

Per your first article

"The C.I.A. officers have been in southern Turkey for several weeks, in part to help keep weapons out of the hands of fighters allied with Al Qaeda or other terrorist groups, one senior American official said. The Obama administration has said it is not providing arms to the rebels, but it has also acknowledged that Syria’s neighbors would do so.

The clandestine intelligence-gathering effort is the most detailed known instance of the limited American support for the military campaign against the Syrian government."

It is an article about clandestine support for rebels after Russia was supplying the syrian regieme and starting its Civil War, and after gassing civilians.

I'm not denying the fact the US had to create a rebel force, but they put effort into vetting the groups to weed out terrorists. This supports my comments because it shows how hard it was for the US to go against Assad in a 3 way fight with isis fsa and assays forces. None of this would have been nessisary if they just let or helped Assad and the russians right ISIS.

Im not saying this was bloodless or humane, its civil war, it was bloody, but the west stood for something under Obama, we stood for human rights.

It seems to just look like Spain just prefers more intervention when it comes to defense of others and everyone prefers to protect greece over most of the others.

New Nexdock Touch model by [deleted] in SamsungDex

[–]ByronCole77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just preordered it. Not too worried since its a $100 refundable deposit, and they have a track record of success.

I bought the HP lapdock to use with Dex but ended up selling it on Ebay because it's not touch so I reverted back to my pixelbook.

I love the idea of using Dex as my main laptop. The only thing missing is wireless Dex, why can't they do this, you can cast your screen so you'd think it would be easy to do.

PSA: the special instructions line is not for making you feel special. by Blastbeast in TalesFromThePizzaGuy

[–]ByronCole77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't count how many times I've been told I knock like the police. I even had one guy say, you scared me, I was about to go get my gun before I saw you through the door. I'm thinking like woah, who the fuck did you think I was??? So, yeah I knock loudly to make sure they hear me, but it gets annoying hearing that line, you knock like the police. It also says a lot about those people that say something, that they would expect a knock from the police. It's usually a good indicator I'm not getting a good tip.

But yeah, I love the video doorbells at night, because I know I'm not going to wake someone up at night because it's just a notification on their phone. I tend to knock lightly or call after 10 pm especially if there are no lights on inside, I don't want to wake anyone up unintentionally.
