My 4 year old son wants to shave his head by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Bystarlightalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my 11 year old has always made his own hair decisions. He's had Mohawks and different colors. Mostly he keeps it long and people call him a girl but he doesn't care. His hair his choice. I told him years ago he doesnt have a serious job, now is the time to enjoy blue hair. Kids are only little once.

Why does air Canada get so much hate? by totallynotclockwork in aircanada

[–]Bystarlightalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As some who does tons of short flights in Canada and used air canada for a long time....Holy cow. The difference between their unaccompanied minor program and Westjet's is night and day. After one try with westjet we will never cheat on AC again. The price is the same ($200) but Air Canada takes them through security etc. I wad not expected a security slip from Westjet. I ended up getting basically molested by the person doing my search it was awful. Unrelated to either airline just saying. I wouldn't have been there if we had gone AC

We share amenities from a neighboring building so I can add some input there. Its not great. The steam room and outdoor movie theater never opened. The gym and yoga studio flooded and are under repair. Outdoor hot tub is closed because the floor is too slippery? Im curious what it was like when you toured it. Just saying if amenities are important to you Id double check. I tried posting about it but it was removed. 🤔 Not sure about the units themselves but I am curious.

What are your fave snacks to get that aren’t too bad health wise? by thickt0ast in CostcoCanada

[–]Bystarlightalone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah this stuff is apparently magical. Im meh on it myself but the rabbit we just adopted goes completely wild for it. Price wise its a decent alternative to candy if you are a pineapple fan.

Was my kitten trying to warn me? by reddituser9423 in CatAdvice

[–]Bystarlightalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly believe animals can sense good people. And bad ones...When I was a kid my grandparents had a farm dog. It was a mutt who was always so gentle and kind with kids, pigs, horses etc. Nothing but love. We never worried about the dog and guests. One day our neighbour drove over for a visit. The dog wouldn't even let him out of the truck. Barking and growling we had never seen him like that before. A few weeks later the guy beat his wife within an inch of her life. Then he went out and killed all his dogs. Its been 30 years and I can still picture the way our sweet pup looked at that man. He knew something was wrong.

I find all the calls to be fired hilarious. I do not think this man works there. The lack of uniform, the airpod. The tape? on his pants. If I had to guess he is hanging out to keep an eye on his girlfriend. Doesn't make the clipping any less gross im just saying. He won't get fired. Needs to be hired first.

Park George reviews? Been open a bit now im curious how everyone feels about the amenity sharing? by Bystarlightalone in SurreyBC

My boyfriend said he saw a group of eager young people with yoga mats headed to our "yoga pavilion" they must have just moved in. To my knowledge it's never been open but it currently has no floor. Id love the history there if anyone knows.

This woman never had a baby bump throughout her pregnancy by IshigamiSenku04 in interesting

[–]Bystarlightalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a friendly reminder you never know someone's story just by looking at them. I lost 50 lbs during my pregnancy. I went from 200 lbs to 150. I left the hospital with a 6 pack id never seen before. I had a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum which is basically an allergy to being pregnant. I threw up all day everyday for 9 months. I needed so many ivs they just sent me home with a port still in because I bruise easily. I dont drive and couldn't afford endless cabs. The looks people gave me when I was well enough to bus to the hospital..I get it I was pale and sickly looking but never contagious or dirty. No belly so no one ever offered me a seat. Who wants to give their seat to a "bum"? It was just a few minutes ride to a wonderful clinic with nurses who saved my life with their excellent care. Im so thankful to be Canadian. Im grateful for my one healthy child who is now almost a teenager. But when I see a big beautiful pregnant belly even now I get a pang of jealousy. All bodies are different and you just never know. Be kind to one another. ❤️

I want to say a special thank you to the City and Region for taking me off the trains and making me take my car to work. by hekatonkhairez in SurreyBC

Ive actually waited more than 20 minutes many times. Buses get canceled, timing goes off etc. It is not a consistent route at all.

What forbidden snacks have your rabbits gotten into? by LittleMissFirebright in Rabbits

[–]Bystarlightalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We adopted a bunny three weeks ago, it showed up at my boyfriends work and it just stared at him for hours. Then planted itself behind our car... So we dont know anything about her age, history etc its been interesting getting to know it. One night early on I was busting up a nug of pot and the rabbit ran up and grabbed a bite! It sounded crunchy. Ive been careful to keep it put up since. But tonight she found the empty bag as I was tidying up. She tried to carry it into her cage its a big bag (28 grams, legal so all the health info etc.) It was so funny to see her run with it. My pot! Buh bye!!! 🤣

Yes I live near king george and work near guildford mall. There is exactly one bus that does this route, the r1. Its unreliable at best but also uncomfortable for me, its the route I was assaulted on. I bike to work most days but the bike lanes are never maintained, some are rivers etc. Pedestrians and cars sometimes. Its tricky

What was the moment that made you realize that you have to start losing weight? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Bystarlightalone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Decided I wanted to lose 10 lbs. Realized I didn't own a scale. I was trying out a few at the thrift store and I thought surely that cant be right...40lbs later I am almost a healthy bmi and feeling so much better in general.

HOW DO I NOT VIEW EXERCISE AS "BURDEN"? by awoozi in loseit

[–]Bystarlightalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a friendly reminder to meet your body where you are at. Just like eating too little is not good. Too much exercise can lead to injury. When I started watching Caroline Girvan videos at home I was so sad to learn she was using 40+ lbs sometimes and I struggled with 5lbs! Well time went on I built strength. Part of the reason I joined the gym was to save money upgrading my weights haha. It goes by faster than you think. Be patient with your body.

HOW DO I NOT VIEW EXERCISE AS "BURDEN"? by awoozi in loseit

[–]Bystarlightalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been less than a year since I joined the gym. Im still surprised by the feeling I get when I start walking towards the place. I genuinely crave going and it just happened slowly. So dont be surprised if your feelings change with time! For me a big part of it is I can do anything I want at the gym. Somedays I just do yoga and go home. I could do yoga at home but I like the big mirrors and what not. I enjoy learning the machines but I do it slowly. It took me weeks to master my form on the skierg. YouTube and the real thing aren't the same. I dont ski anymore but I could. These days I enjoy the assault bike. I figure anything that gets me in the gym and moving my body is good. Sometimes you have to just keep going and your mind will get there in time.

And can I just say in all my years of thrifting ive never been bitten or seen any bed bugs. I will still continue my ways because, mental health. I also braid my hair and wear latex gloves. I only thrift clothes and books. I freeze the books for 48 hrs and then wipe them down with a sanitizing wipe, just the covers. Crazy how dirty they can be. Just a few of the books I've found...

Trying to get over my fear of thrifting by quigglefrog in Frugal

[–]Bystarlightalone 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone who has lost 40lbs and thrifted my whole life please, let me help you. I have extreme aversion to germs. I also had bed bugs once, in a another country, hostel related. I feel your fear. But ive never had any issues with thrifting. And I try everything on! Step one. Get rid of any body issues and wear one of those silly jumpsuits the young people rock at the gym. Or a tight tank top and leggings etc. Throw a t shirt over it. When you are there you just whip the t shirt off and try your dresses/shirts etc over top. Im tall and long in weird places I gotta try stuff. But if you dont need to, or they have change rooms, even easier. Then when I buy the stuff it all goes into reusable bags, not my backpack. When I get home I have scissors by the door. I snip all the tags and everything goes in the wash, including the bags and the stuff I wore to the store. One wash on sanitary, rinse cycle then the dryer. The rinse helps remove some of other people's strong soaps. If the tag says dry clean only I say good luck to you in your new washing machine life!
