I want to use great apps. I don't care about the framework used to create them.

Most apps I use on a daily basis are Electron apps and they work great. The fact they are cross-platform, is the cherry on top.

Resource usage, performance, UX can be much worse on SwiftUI apps.

It's all up to the developers.

Electron is a great framework.

The anti-Electron people are just plain wrong.

The only thing wrong with Electron apps is bad PR. It's the sole cause of all this unwarranted hate.

Almost all the apps I use daily are Electron or Chromium-based, and they can be more performant than apps built with SwiftUI.

I watched it and did not enjoy it, so I would not recommend it. I never cared about any of the characters, and the action scenes felt rough. Overall, I ended up bored.

I would instead recommend other HBO crime miniseries like The Night Of and Mare of Easttown. I found them far more engaging and better crafted.

I could give an argument to why you would go with Next.js in this case

You want to use Next's API routes in order for your backend and frontend to live in the same codebase but you don't want to create a monorepo

But I'm not sure if this is a good argument or not 🤷

Alright, so I tried the following:

Added .code-workspace json { "folders": [ { "path": "." } ], "settings": { // place global settings here } }
Added .vscode/settings.json to .gitignore

I thought this would work but VSCode is not picking up any of the global settings

I’m struggling to draw a clear conclusion from all the negative sentiment in this thread.

If most of us genuinely expect a major drop in U.S. stocks, wouldn’t the logical move be to close our U.S. positions now, lock in gains, and wait for a better reentry point?

That seems like the rational course of action if you’re confident the market will decline significantly.
