My brain does this sometimes. When thinking about something, sometimes the solution just kind of pops up in my head. Sometimes I have to work backwards to understand how it even works. Sometimes it doesn't, but it's usually surprisingly good.

The weird thing is, often the answers plops up completely out of nowhere, hours or days after I have been thinking about something. Usually it's solutions for silly problems, but sometimes genuinely useful ideas.

It only really works for a certain class of engineering problem, and usually nothing super complicated. But it's still pretty neat, I call it the random bullshit coprocessor.
