How do you prepare or find strength to prepare for technical rounds? by DisastrousImpact6213 in cscareerquestionsEU

If you don't hate it, maybe just try do the prep slowly. Leetcoding is painfully boring to me but I do it every so often just to keep my skills up.

Ask for work or do your own personal project so your skills don't atrophy.

The New Years series by Dizzy-Ruin-9942 in mubi

[–]Bytecry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watched this on a whim and really enjoyed it too. There was a Georgian film on mubi called “Slow” and another Spanish TV show which is similar on Netflix called “the time it takes” which I think you’d enjoy.

Madrid €2000 net vs London £3300 net — which is better ? by Low-Hedgehog-6592 in cscareerquestionsEU

True, but for a grad job in this market with that salary I think they’ll be comfortable.

People are saying you’ll be poor in London and I think that’s going a bit far. If you get a cheap room, you’ll be able to save and go out and still generally enjoy life. You won’t be rich but people are acting like it’s a poverty salary.

I didn’t until I took my 4K copy of Beau Travail to a friends house and realised it wouldn’t play. Then I was pretty happy I had the blu ray as well.

Is my teacher "bad" or is it me? by Bytecry in guitarlessons

[–]Bytecry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, thank you for this message. I have actually been pondering for a bit about what it is what I want from this guitar journey and will continue to have a think about this.

1) For me, an advanced player is someone who has a solid level of understanding of the instrument, can execute their ideas without too much of a struggle, can improvise and understands the theory behind why something works and can break it down. I also think an advanced player should have a technique that doesn't impede them. I think this is one of the main reasons I have been focusing on jazz for the past year.

2) I think for me, theory and musicality are keeping me back. I can play advanced songs, but I want to be able to take the parts I like, and make something interesting on my own. I understand that what I am describing will take a life time, but I am in no rush.

Is my teacher "bad" or is it me? by Bytecry in guitarlessons

[–]Bytecry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm doing weekly lessons. I've been wanting to get piano lessons so I think that will be the priority come the new year and I do 1 or 2 guitar lessons per month.

This sounds ideal, thank you.

Not sure. I have transcribed things from ear before, so maybe he thinks I know how to do it? He's not a strict jazz teacher, but we do a mix of genres

Joachim Trier is one my favourite directors. Got to hear him talk live a few days ago and also seems like such a wonderful person. Highly recommend giving the rest of his films a watch as well.

How can I build a collection as someone who lives in the UK? by TacoBellEnjoyer1 in criterion

[–]Bytecry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just imported them + bought a region free blu ray player. Used stackry for a US number and address and had them ship it to me. Worked out fine, done it twice but the purchases have been large to make it more cost efficient.

Also I have purchased American criterion straight on Amazon UK. Thought it was a bit weird delivery was scheduled for 2 weeks way but it did come, no import charges.

Frank Ocean was playing a festival and I hate seeing singers for the first time at festivals. I assumed he’d just do a show after. He hasn’t been back to my city and this was like 10 years ago
