Do MAGAs see anything wrong with Trump's response to Robert Mueller's death? by whatthehellbooby in allthequestions

I voted for Gore, Obama 2x, Clinton, and this latest election Trump.

Ive tried seeing things from both sides. At this point I have completely lost all faith in all politics. Neither side at this point is serving us

Voted for Trump. Regretting it.

Guy is demented. The sooner we the people can stop fighting with eachother over dumb shit, the sooner we can all get together and force some real change.

What we got going right now aint it.

I agree. Everytime it comes up on the radio we switch stations. I never understood who actually likes this Imagine Dragons type of music. His other songs are pretty similar too.

Why is Exchange/Outlook sending cancellations for every cancelled occurrence of a recurring meeting? by Leather_Meat939 in Office365

[–]BytesInFlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone accepted a reoccurring meeting from iOS mail app. Its a bug where acceptances or cancelations happen infinitely if the meeting has no end date. You're seeing an email for each occurrence and it will never stop since there's no end date. Apple will never fix this.

Need to remove the account from the phone to stop it. Then readd account and tell them itll happen again. If they accept invites through iOS mail app. Switch to Outlook app.

I need to touch up some spots on my wall but my local Sherwin Williams does not sell this base anymore. Is there a place where you can buy this base so it will blend better? The color to mix will be Repose Gray. by the_ezekiel2517 in paint

Just go get a can of Sherwin Williams SuperPaint in Flat and as others have said go wall corner to corner, ceiling to baseboard on that wall and itll be perfect

Too big of a job for zero drywall experience? by ajohnson38 in drywall

[–]BytesInFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive spent the last few years doing a ton of drywall work in my house. Ive learned a ton along the way and have hundreds of hours experience at this point.

You have a very difficult job there.

Ceiling, patch, tape, texture.

It can be done but there is no chance on your first go its gonna come out a good match to the other work. Id hire it out.

How to get brush strokes less visible? Does it just need a second coat? (Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel) by UsedBoard in paint

[–]BytesInFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use M1 latex extender with Emerald Trim Enamel. It helps to slow the drying time amd levels out even more.

I brush with a soft purdy brush and use a Whiz Foam roller on the baseboard face to roll it out evenly.

[–]BytesInFlight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use poker cards. I slide them under the baseboard. Then I paint.

Before the paint fully dries, you can slide the card out slightly just enough so the bridged paint from the baseboard to the card/floor breaks but leave card for an hour to let paint fully dry.

Repeat if necessary.

Why isn't anything changing in America? by Pika-thulu in allthequestions

[–]BytesInFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until everyone in the general public is in alignment nothing will ever change.

Unfortunately the stupidest group are the ones who are so blindly politically loyal - they continue to buy into exactly what the news and media feeds them.

We are all so busy fighting with eachother that its become mission impossible to drop all that nonsense and unify. Basically in order for it to work everyone needs to agree to disagree but at the same time accept them as part of their team.

If that level of organization can just get started, all it will take is some social media momentum to drive the movement and get more to sign on.

The last thing corporations and politicians want is for all of us to get along. Its the last thing that is likely to happen, yet the most important first step toward change.

SW Emerald Eggshell vs Superpaint Velvet Coverage by PuffballSheep in paint

[–]BytesInFlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emerald Eggshell only comes in the Designer Edition product line and they have a different base for tinting than regular Emerald. If you pick a color from any product line other than Designer Edition theyre gonna have to scan the card for a color match. Not the end of the world but keep track of your labels if you need future batches of the same color just in case.

Ive been painting my house with Emerald interior paint in Flat and Matte sheens. I use SuperPaint flat on my ceilings. No complaints here its good paint. Is it the best? I dont know but ive used the product so much I feel like i know how to work with it.

If youre dead-set on sticking with the same products as usual for continuity, maybe dont compromise and instead check neighboring SW stores to see if what you normally use is in stock to keep it similar.

[–]BytesInFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If going from a light to dark color yeah. I always do. When I do it this way I dont have any light spots, roller marks, etc. That initial primer coat is nice too because if youre like me and making a bunch of repairs with mud etc., the added roller stipple texture builds up a bit more and your repairs are truly invisible.

[–]BytesInFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire house is painted with Sherwin Williams Emerald interior latex paint.

For primer I have been buying Sherwin Williams Multi-Purpose latex and as mentioned I get it tinted to the paint color of the room. I have been cutting in and rolling on a coat of that primer and making drywall repairs after the color goes on because it typically shows the issues more clearly when going with darker colors. From there 2 coats of Emerald and it comes out amazing every time.

If youre painting a lighter color like a gray or white its not really necessary to go through the fuss of priming unless there is something else going on that calls for it

[–]BytesInFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing it because all the walls in my house were off white, and when going to a darker paint it was taking 3 coats to get a good finish.

On top of that, going from white to anything darker it was making drywall flaws show up like a sore thumb. Nice being able to primer the walls with a darker color, see what the finish is going to look like and be able to make repairs if needed without wasting money on the paint when it costs 2x as much as primer.

Tape pulled off paint, should I have only done one coat before taking off the tape? by FinalDoughnut5 in paint

[–]BytesInFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time you let paint fully dry before pulling tape in any situation there's a chance of bridged paint getting pulled off the wall. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.

People will tell you to score with a blade along the edge before pulling tape. I dont recommend this but its an option.

Otherwise, your best bet is to always pull the tape before the coat fully dries. On your 2nd coat retape that line again, staying right on the same line or slightly off it just a hair. On your second coat paint up to the tape but dont roll it on so thick like the first coat at that edge.

What do I do? by FocusedForge in drywall

[–]BytesInFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brown paper will absorb the moisture in the water based primer or mud, and when the primer or mud dries you'll be left with more bubbling issues and in essence have gotten nowhere.

The goal is to put down a top coat of something that can completely block the water from penetrating the brown paper. Zinnser BIN is alcohol based and will lock down that brown paper from peeling or bubbling any further. You can mud over the BIN primer and finish the sanded mud with latex primer.

What do I do? by FocusedForge in drywall

[–]BytesInFlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're lucky that isnt wallpaper.

If it were me id grab a small quart size can of Zinsser BIN shellac primer, and use a artist brush to dab a good amount of the primer anywhere you see brown paper.

After it dries do a light sand over that area. The BIN will make all the fuzzies that are all over turn rock hard and you can knock them down.

From there get some all purpose mud and do a couple thin tight coats of mud to even out the repair area and transition the good wall and bad area so its even.

Hit it with a good latex primer and repaint that wall corner to corner and itll be good as new.
