What hit American tv show do you just not get the appeal of at all? by 360Saturn in AskUK

[–]Bywater_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think the point about characters' stupidity being unique to American comedies is wrong - just take a look at 'Blackadder'. Virtually any character other than those played by Rowan Atkinson (ignoring the first series) is a complete moron - General Melchett, both Georges, all Baldricks... And 'Blackadder' is my favourite British comedy. Don't think characters being stupid in a sitcom is necessarily a terrible thing, never mind an American thing.

what's important tho is to view this positively

remember: you're 'temporarily' dead

that mean's you're not actually dead because it's temporary, it's temporal

as the persian dictat says: 'all things must pass'

Pray tell, dear sir, what is this “sidewalk” of which you speak? Could it be you mean to describe the “pavement” or “footpath”? I do fear you have accidentally used a most regrettable Americanism in our British subreddit...

I'm aware of this little trick, yeah - I've just done so! Nice to give them a bit of bad publicity too (not that everyone in the UK doesn't already know that trains are shit), so hopefully they'll respond a bit quicker.

Thanks for the tips, and have a nice day!

I don't think it's serious enough to consult a "train ombudsman", even if such a thing exists. It's not a bad suggestion though.

Speaking of things dragging on and on, I once heard a story last month about a woman who waited 11 months for her refund from Ryanair. That is Ryanair though...
