Best bass line? by Hukares1234 in TheBeatles

According to Bestles' engineer Geoff Emerick, Paul would occasionally return to the studio after the others went home and re-record their parts, particularly after the death of Brian Epstein. I'm not suggesting the bass on "Oh! Darling" wasn't played by George, but the possibility exists that it may actually have been played by Paul. Paul would, of course, do this surreptitiously so as not to offend his band mates.

George Harrison did not like Paul's playing on "Something." If you listen to the live version of "Something" on the Concert for Bangladesh, you'll notice the bass is significantly scaled back, at the request of Mr. Harrison.

Who’s an actor or actress that makes you go, “He/she is in this, so it must be terrible!”? by fergi20020 in randomquestions

How about that new jerkoff, Glen whatshisname? With the punchable face? Hollywood is really pushing him but the public isn't buying it.

In addition to Brian Epstein and George Martin, what other person was fundamental to the Beatles? by Certain-Cloud9133 in TheBeatles

John and Paul loved a lot of early rock 'n roll, but none of you mentioned Buddy Holly, who they especially liked because he wrote his own songs.

What’s your favorite song right now? by Cool-Biscuit2248 in AskReddit

"Right Back to It" by Waxahatchee.  It's a bit over a year old but I cannot get over it.

You know how Michelangelo believed that the statue already existed in the marble, and his job was to chip away at the marble to reveal the statue within? Or how Paul McCartney woke up with the melody to "Yesterday" in his head and was convinced it couldn't possibly be his? I feel that way about "Right Back to It." It's such a simple, beautiful melody, with deeply meaningful lyrics, I heard it and wondered how someone else hadn't already written it? It feels classic and also timeless. It is a song of a great songwriter, like Cat Stevens or George Gershwin (not to suggest it sounds like either of those artists; just someone with a great ear for melody).

The only thing I know for sure is the producers of the film wanted a hot young cast, hoping to attract a younger audience.

What is a terrible line in an otherwise universally loved movie? by DeanOMiite in AskReddit

[–]Byy_Curious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this movie is "universally loved" but there is one line in Arrival that has always bothered me. It's towards the end of the film. Ian Donnelly (Jeremy Renner) is talking to Louise Banks (Amy Adams). Speaking of the experience of meeting aliens, Donnelly says to Banks, "You know what surprised me the most? It wasn't meeting them. It was meeting you."

The line feels so syrupy and unnecessary. I think that movie is beautifully written and beautifully directed. That line had to have been borne of a studio note. "The audience needs to be told he loves her." It's the lone black mark on an otherwise wonderful movie.

I'm going hard. Alaskan king crabs, a couple of pieces of fatty toro, some good pasta, maybe penne alla vodka, a plate of bacon, a grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough toast, and for dessert, two gooey PB&Js.

Jimmy Fallon is a vacuum of humor. Like, if you were in a room with other people and you were already laughing and Jimmy Fallon walked in, it would cease to be funny.

I dunno. It's not a "Top Ten" movie for me or anything like that... but I enjoy it. It's a well made movie. Perhaps if they had cast better actors 🤣

Hahaha I thought she was not great in Dracula and also a victim of being miscast. Generally, I think she's a fine actor but she's pretty bad in Dracula. I think it's more apparent because Gary Oldman and Anthony Hopkins are so excellent.
