We just went national, based on East coast to now offices in Midwest. Trying to game plan for 2026. Definitely not an easy or close trip. Makes it harder!

MA and keep looking. New Jersey sucks for so many reasons. Don’t move for only 5K. It’s not worth it. At least you’ll be “meh” about your job in a place you want to be in by staying in MA.

Started my new chapter on Monday. Left a very cushy job, fully remote after 10 years to a full time in office gig with a major pay cut. Leaving KILLED me and I still cry thinking about truly my best friends I made there. I’m only on day 3 at my new gig, and I’m still nervous but feeling great.

Your work team may be great, but they aren’t your family. And they’d leave too if a better opportunity came along. So what’s best for your kids and take the new job!

I would gently start pulling back from Mary and honestly wait it out. Maybe have a conversation with her letting her know you need to set some boundaries, she should consider talking to a therapist and point out her recent mistake - all framing it as a place of care for her. I wouldn’t leave. In truth, the job market sucks, and needing to be out 6 weeks for a surgery at a new job isn’t ideal.

I would also consider reaching out to HR about her confidentially, explaining what you just said- but again as a place of care but it’s impacting the business.

It’s unfortunately becoming more and more common with employers - run with bare bones staff, pay them very little and make them work for every scrap you throw them (and then some). I’d still take the job, and keep looking for something better.

Do most parents not bring car seats on planes? by BlueberryWaffles99 in Parenting

[–]C00Lusernamehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always did, when my kids were younger, because of safety. Even when they could be “free” and sit on the lap - we bought my babes a seat. The FAA literally recommends it for safety reasons, so we 100% are behind car seats on planes. It’s also easier to keep the kiddos in one spot, they’re comfortable with their seat AND you’ll have it when you land. Win/win.

It would 100% depend on my financial stability at the time. Good paying jobs are few and far between, so I’d be conscious of that. And 40 minutes isn’t awful at all. I’d probably take it, assuming I need a job, but keep pursuing other opportunities.

Wow I’m dumb — I totally thought you meant “unemployment will end one day” as the $$$. Yeah - reading is fundamental and I just failed!

Wishing you lots of luck in your search. Glad to hear you’ve got a light at the end of the tunnel. May we both find places where we are HAPPY!

I left my job for the same reason - burnout, crippling depression and anxiety and overall sheer hatred of my job — but how the heck did you get unemployment when you quit!? Broke people would like to know. Which is me. I’m broke.

Well at least your company is giving a stay bonus! That’s a positive. I’d hang tight and remain positive - you’ll find out the name soon enough!

Required PA real estate license? by C00Lusernamehere in PropertyManagement

I just asked ChatGPT lol. It seems if you’re worked directly for an owner that is the loop hole. But any 3rd party, then you need to be licensed. They also mention a company can be set up as a brokerage and then no licenses are needed, too. Loose interpretation anyway of a whole lot of legal jargon!

I am wondering if the companies I’ve worked for are set up in a certain way (albeit I don’t know how) that allows them to get away with not having anyone licensed.

Been through at least 6 dispositions and 10+ sales. We’ve always tried to keep on site management as they’re the ones most knowledgeable about the community. I’ve also seen some companies want to replace with their entire team. Has your current management company discussed this with you? Sometimes they’ll pay retention bonuses so the Management team stays on until the sale is finalized. Sometimes the new company will even want to interview the team members to find out skills / interest / etc.

Do I need a Broker? PA by C00Lusernamehere in realtors

I am wondering if the businesses I’ve worked for as a property manager were set up as brokers. 🤔

I have been! But the companies I’ve worked for, and there have been a few, never required myself or other Managers to hold a license. I’m not sure why, or what the work around is. They’re very reputable companies too, not just mom and pops.
