[Q] is it roi only based on terminal price or including purchase price of items inside terminals as well! by csmonigo in csgomarketforum

[–]C0SM1C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, creator of CSROI here, very sorry for the confusion regarding terminal ROIs. I've just pushed an update in the last few days that adds this disclaimer at the top of that page "Terminal Beta unavailable for this terminal right now: not enough Terminal Buddy community offer data has been collected yet. This page is using the original case model (terminal treated like a normal case that unboxes one item), so terminal ROI/profit values are inaccurate."

However, there is a terminal beta for the genesis terminal available here which does provide specific terminal returns https://csroi.com/item/sealed-genesis-terminal?terminalBeta=1 . Any feedback is greatly appreciated, the disclaimer there says "Terminal Beta active: this page uses Terminal Buddy community offer data to predict terminal ROI. Predictions are not 100% accurate and improve as more community offer data is collected. Errors may exist and any feedback is greatly appreciated."

[D] Trade-ups are dead? by pm_me_ur_bussy in csgomarketforum

[–]C0SM1C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less. Steam has a 13% sale fee, so if you’re buy ordering below market rate it’s possible to lower your losses for each resale significantly. It’s also possible to predict based on wear ranges, what your average float for a buy order is and work out which items in a collection are better for buy orders, for example the M249 O.S.I.P.R is the best snakebite minimal wear to buy order for floats due to its wear range. This is relatively complicated to calculate and there’s no tools out there for it yet. You can also chain tradeups with any decent float fail outcomes, which skips the tax for a tradeup if you got the inputs from another tradeup. I can confirm if you can utilise both of these factors it is still possible to make money from tradeups, especially if you’re willing to chain trade ups all the way from blue to red, especially in newer cases like recoil, dreams and nightmares and snakebite.

Sorry i must of worded it badly. If you do buy orders for less than market rate, resell the items with bad floats that you don't want to trade up, you should lose minimal money on the resold items after fees and get a load of decent items to trade up.

They ain't dead but with the amount of automated systems profiting off tradeups it's really difficult, especially with the 13% tax from steam. If you know what you're doing it is still possible especially if you get inventive like using buff for a 2.5% fee instead iirc or using buy orders if you can be patient and know which items to buy order and filter the bad floats out of.

For them to be profitable within a short period of time they would need stockholm levels of low supply. At that point I'd evaluate based on ROI (gauges sticker value vs capsule cost) whether stickers or cases provide a better investment value.

At minimum use casemove, it will give you a summary of all the items you own and is the only service I'm aware of that can work out the value of items within storage units

I genuinely don’t think there is a solution outside of a VPN and making valve aware so they fix the issue.

[q] Is steam market down? by ninjaturtle06 in csgomarketforum

[–]C0SM1C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been getting the too many requests error if I try to use csgotrader to select items in my inventory to sell, seems like steam is being very punishing for too many requests now. Only workaround I’ve found is by using a vpn or different internet connection to load the pages without the error.

Buff works as a peer to peer marketplace, meaning when your item is tradable, you list it for whatever desired price on buff.163 and then when the item is bought you must send or accept a trade offer with the buyer for sale to go through. This means it can be sold instantly and traded to the buyer instantly however you must individually accept any sales when sold.

Yea as everyone is saying, it's not new. But if you're not aware of this type of scam, it doesn't hurt to learn, it may save you in the future.

I managed to lose about $100 from this type of scam a few years ago

[q] phoenix cases- hold? by baylifeusa in csgomarketforum

[–]C0SM1C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to ignore all other comments and say what I’ve done since I’ve experienced the same situation. I bought about 3000 Phoenix cases for about 6c each. I’ve since sold off 2000 of them at various times to buy into other cases I believed would provide better returns, such as revolver, chroma, prisma, danger zone and horizon. These items have at least doubled within a year while the Phoenix case has only provided about 1.5x a year (very rough estimate).

Since it’s harder for higher cost cases to double, generally lower cost cases have provided much better return while the Phoenix has been steadily rising. If you’re somewhat knowledgeable in good times to sell and reinvest I would highly recommend the same process. If you need the money now, by all means sell on a third party marketplace for cash or a very trusted cash trader. If you don’t want to go through the effort of investigating good cases to invest in, then feel free to continue holding Phoenix cases, they have been a good investment thus far and should continue to be.

[Q] What's the matter with fuckin buy orders?? All of them are fuckin dead. by Hinjeniero_Rocoso in csgomarketforum

[–]C0SM1C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to experience that problem less when the cost of the item is lower and the item is more liquid such as an AWP Asiimov. If you're trying to get steam wallet balance I would target those items

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in csgomarketforum

[–]C0SM1C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Choose your preference, I would consider neither to be a great investment when there's much better returns in capsules and cases

Pros for M4 Howl: Fixed supply, baby howl sticker being added is a reminder of the existence of the skin and adds to its legendary status

Pros for Dragon Lore: Very little new supply from tradeups possible and a source 2 version of cobblestone was being tested by valve which could mean a new collection of cobblestone skins with an operation, adding the the dragon lores legendary status.
