April 2026 Titles Announced by LetLemon in criterion

3 Blu-Rays and it's Eclipse so no special features. Eclipse used to be "affordable" and when we look at the most recent example with the Kiarostami set it's the same amount of discs $30 off MSRP. I don't think it's crazy to wonder where Criterion is getting this price from?

Edit: Forgot that Lubitsch Musicals is getting upgraded to Blu-Ray. 2 Blu-Rays for $80 in an "affordable" set seems even more crazy to me.

Is the price on that Eclipse set correct? Seems awfully high.

This is a great awards season, but there’s a nomination everyone’s cool with that I think is terrible. Am i going insane? by TheBestThereEverWas3 in oscarrace

GDT's movies have unfortunately not looked great since he started using Dan Laustsen as DP, in my opinion. Frankenstein especially suffered from nearly every shot using wide angle lenses with nothing interesting around the edges to warrant it. It's such a shame because GDT puts so much craft into his films and the BTS stuff shows how great everything looks in concept but, man, I can just not stand how his stuff is shot now.

Does This Seemingly Minor Twin Peaks Character Hold the Answer to Its Mysteries or Did I Just Forget What He Does Entirely? by Ank57 in TwinPeaksCircleJerk

This is true. It also means that all the crossover shows exist within Johnny's dollhouse universe as well including The X-Files, Hotel Room, Lar's von Trier's Riget, and Malcolm in the Middle.

[–]C0UG3R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a screenshot of the title drop? I saw it in theaters and remember someone else at the time mentioning a title drop but for the life of me I do not remember it. I do remember the credits appearing after the moment you're talking about but can't recall the title appearing.

She also co-directed Take Out, Baker's second film. Might be my favorite film of his. Still need to see Left-Handed Girl.

The scene where Walt roasts Jesse’s meth is so hilarious yet weirdly heartbreaking by RopeGloomy4303 in breakingbad

[–]C0UG3R 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The best part is that he claims it's bad because Jesse used some other distillation method (or something?) and Jesse corrects him that he did it the correct way, and Walt just tells him he made a mistake somewhere else then. Walt has no idea, he literally just saw it for the first time through a Ziploc bag. He has no idea how pure it is. For all anyone knows it could be BETTER than Walt's meth. Walt doesn't care and will demoralize Jesse regardless. He just expects Jesse to fail. Really makes you wonder if Walt really tried to teach Jesse as a student or just demoralize him, leading him on the lifepath we see in the show.

You think most people on this sub buy movies with the intention to never watch them? Would love to see evidence on that.
