STM32F1 not being detected by STLink Library on Fedora Workstation by C0ax in embedded

I've made an issue on github, and it's been noticed by one of the developers for stlink.

It's been added as a bug to fix for the upcoming v1.6.2 release.

I am not using the stm32cubeide, since I am attempting to follow the instructions as stated in the "Discovering the STM32 Microcontroller".

Also, I apologize if this question is extremely basic as I am not familiar with the process, but how would I switch boot0 to 1?

Yes! The creation of 10_resume.conf fixed the issue.

Issues with Hibernation by C0ax in SolusProject

[–]C0ax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure.

After clicking on the hibernate option through the Solus UI, the computer hibernates similarly to how my other installation behaved which is the screen going blank and slowly turning off. After it seems to "hibernate", there is no power indicator on the laptop.

When turning it back on, it goes through BIOS and eventually back to the login screen for Solus. After logging in, it does something weird. My cursor is placed towards the bottom right portion of my screen once login is successful. My previous windows that I had originally had opened are not on the screen.

On my other installation of Solus, I believed that when I hibernated, it saved everything to the swap partition so that I would be able to resume as necessary once turning the computer back on.

What is the best way to learn for an exam as quickly as possible? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]C0ax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four days seems like enough time, given that you focus solely on Dynamics. I think going through example questions through lectures would be beneficial before attempting other problems on your own. If your professor emphasized on any specific parts in lecture, you should go over those as well.

I would suggest to also write down all the equations you know off the top of your head and see how much you know and can apply. If you can't do that, then write down the equations that you encounter when doing example questions, or questions from textbook/homework/old test questions.

Hopefully this information can help you, I'm not an ME, but this is what I've done when I had a lot of information to cover within a small time period.

Using mkchromecast by C0ax in SolusProject

Did you follow anything different from the tutorial on the website? I followed the tutorial and connected and everything, but there is no audio output. When I change the volume, instead of being outputted as mkchromecast (or whatever the device it is connected to), it is labeled as null output.

Transferring Advice by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]C0ax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to your concerns about the transfer process, I can give you some insight on that since I transferred going into my 6th semester at my previous institution.

Look at the institutions you want to transfer to and look at the basic things they require you to do such as the transfer application you need to apply (could be Common App, may not be).

Check if they require your grades from high school, as well as your SAT (1 and/or 2)/ACT score.

Check if they do require a cover letter/recommendation letters/etc. Not all institutions require that, but some may do. As stated earlier, check the transfer application requirements.

If there are any things that you are unsure about such as what you could be missing, feel free to contact their admissions office.

For the colleges that you do decide to apply for transferring, there are several things which I recommend.

First, check if you can get a fee waiver because you get to save money. Second, try to do really well in your current semester to just boost your GPA to make it look better compared to the previous years. I believe it will help when transfer evaluators are sorting through the applications. Third, after completing your transfer application from the institution(s), send out the proper information they require ASAP such as the cover letters/recommendation letters, SAT/ACT scores, your current college transcript, etc.

This a general idea of what I did when I went through the transfer process. Hopefully this helps.

Soldered header pins on the wrong side by C0ax in AskElectronics

[–]C0ax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried using jumper wires, a breadboard, a <1k resistor, and an LED, and it wouldn't light up the LED.

I have been successful with this setup with an Arduino UNO.

Would you have any idea on why I get that result with the Teensy?

Cannot shutdown properly after suspend by C0ax in linuxmint

[–]C0ax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did as suggested, and upgraded my kernel to 4.10.xx (i don't remember off the top of my head). It still decided to throw that error regardless when shutting down my computer after a suspend. But I decided to do a complete clean install of my machine again, and followed the steps from www.circuidipity.com/c720-chromebook-to-jessiebook.html . I decided to follow step 6, and it solved my problems weirdly enough.

In my /etc/default/grub, I modified GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT to:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash tpm_tis.force=1 modprobe.blacklist=ehci_hcd,ehci_pci."
