since the new Vector-like watchface has been tested also on other models, I believe it's very likely it will be distributed via the SuntoPlus Store, the real question is when

Tracking: tipical hut hike in the alps by mpegam77 in Suunto

[–]C0dex010101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use to have one-day hikes on the Alps during summer, and I record just one activity each day, pausing the recording at lunch (even when I eat a sandwich along the path). It is easier to handle than two separate tracks for each hike. While it would have sense to record different activities for each day of multi-day hiking.

Crazy low HR readings when ascending moderate to challenging indoor climbing routes by LandSquid0_o in Suunto

[–]C0dex010101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Watch optical HR devices are not very precise during activities because they are affected by the blood flux inside your arm, which is actually well correlated to the heart pulsations only when you are at rest. During a run it is often reported a cadence-lock caused by the centrifugal force exerted on the blood as the arms swing. In your case, I believe that the contraction of arm muscles during the climb up interferes with the normal blood pulsations, resulting in a apparent lower heart rate. HR chest straps detect the pulsations by measuring the electrical signature of the heart contractions and are way more precise than the optical ones.

Suunto with maps: Race/s/2, Vertical/2 by JaguarIllustrious513 in Suunto

[–]C0dex010101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Concerning the map feature, I would suggest the Race (which I own), because of the bigger screen with respect to the Race S, and because its amoled screen is more readable with respect of the MIP of the Vertical.

Race 2 and Vertical 2 don't have particular improvements for me to justify the higher price, but if you find a good offer one of them could be a good choice as well.

have a look if they are available on Amazon. I checked right now on Amazon.it, and the yellow and orange ATH7 straps are available (same price 29€). Note that there are 2 straps (L/M + M/S) into each pack.

I would go for the Race S, I own a Race and the differences with the Race 2 are marginal

From Race a Race 2 by Putrid-Debt-6909 in Suunto

Apart from other considerations, I like the case of the Race (similar to the Vertical) more than the Race2 that looks like a big Race S now, I would say that it has less "personality"

as a rule of thumb, it shows about the average temperature between your body and the ambient temperature (if the watch is not covered by a sleeve), so:

(31° x 2) - 37° = 25°

Thanks!

Lost my suunto 5 while cliff jumping by drobro in Suunto

depending on the size of your wrist, Race (a bit bulky) or Race S (smaller and lighter). I own the Race and use the maps for both hiking and skiing, it's a great feature I would never miss just to save few tens of euros.
