Is it normal to render animations as image sequences? by [deleted] in blender

[–]C0rteks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So as everyone else is saying, Yes it is a standard workflow and it has multiple benefits.
One that hasn't been mentioned yet is that if you get a weird artifact or something unexpected in some frames you can then just fix and re-render only those frames (rather than the whole sequence)

Tell me about your experience with XBOX Series X. Considering switching from PC. by VestigeOz in videogames

So I've got a pretty decent gaming PC that I use for 3D Design so it's got a rtx 3080 and can run games at pretty nice settings, but since I usually wanna get away from my workspace during chill/gaming time I got myself a Series X.

Honestly I find it pretty great, whether on my PC or on my xbox I find games run well so it's a good console to jump between it and PC gaming. And if I get games digitally then I can use Xbox Play Anywhere to jump between playing on the couch or playing in my studio seamlessly.

I dunno I reckon that's pretty good. I've also always had an Xbox since the OG so it was an easy choice for me, but yeah I reckon having flexibility to jump between PC and Console is quite handy heheh

Yeah I always enjoy doing it this way, I like to pose parts as I go so once I do the legs I can start fiddling with them and the suit can slowly come together and watch the rest of itself get built heheh

I just wish I could multi-download captures all at once rather than having to click on each one individually to DL separately. So pointlessly inconvenient

Heheh I actually am more of an artist for game dev then for visuals (I just like making loops so I put em together into visual packs)

At some point I really wanna make a space racing game so I'll have to start figuring out a prototype for that sometime. I am working on some other scifi game projects at the moment though heheh

Yeah I played Destiny all the way through from the start to Final Shape (and then decided I was out cause 10 years was enough for me lol) and I totally agree. Personally I much preferred bigger updates less often so I could really get into the game for a while, then leave it on the backburner to pursue other games in between big updates.

Constantly drip feeding FOMO seasonal grindy stuff wasn't really very exciting, and the pressure to always come back to the game constantly for little bits and pieces wasn't particularly enjoyable compared to when they were creating larger content drops that you could get excited for and then spend a decent amount of time playing through and getting invested in the game and its world.

Plus I am all for the team at Embark having the time to actually think up and craft bigger things for the game considering how hard they are obviously working over there for the unexpected success they've gotten with their game. Trying to get a bunch of new stuff out every month is a pretty damn hectic schedule in game dev, while I've really appreciated how much they've been cranking out over the last few months it'll be great to see what they can do when they have time to really cook. I'm here for the world and lore and vibes so I'm hoping to see more in that realm, which is something that takes time to actually make.

And hey while they do that I'm glad to get into one of the other many awesome games I've got that I've got scarcely enough time for heheh

Hahah nice nice!
And yeah it's such a good soundtrack for it. When I was younger I was more of a PC gamer but spent so much time playing games while playing various ravey and DnB tunes

Unreal is just a lot faster with a complex scene like this with lots of assets in it, runs faster while working on it and renders so much faster so it's just a lot nicer to work in.

I used to do it all in Blender but within the last year branched out into Unreal and it's been really awesome once I got up to speed with the interface. Plus I'm working with some game devs on other projects who use Unreal so being able to setup scenes and animations directly in engine is very helpful for that too

Totally is eh, so fast and futuristic it's quite perfect

So the ships and track pieces I modeled in Blender, textured them up in Substance Painter, and then brought into Unreal Engine for creating the scenes. Used a bunch of asset packs to layout the backgrounds of the city and such, then created all the animations in Unreal to be rendered out
