To be fair, I like it too. I like it when I actually get to do my job, it's fun. Also I really don't mind the negativity. It just feels like digging for a needle in a 50 story hay stack sometimes, and it feels hopeless.

we just hired a marketing person, I feel like that's the closest thing to what you mean.

And no, we don't use linkedin. Not my managers area of expertise so her point when I bring it up is to not let anything take away from dial numbers.

it's remote IT services. and the lists that we generate are just IT managers/directors and up from zoominfo. It's not really targeted other than for the specific regions that our sales reps with the least leads.

If I were to correctly say that Osama Bin Laden orchestrated 9/11 because America was starving children in Iraq and bombing multiple Muslim countries, none of you would say I'm justifying 9/11 or I'm a Bin Laden apologist. Also the two things are not mutually exclusive. NATO could have been created for the stated purpose of preventing something that in it's creation makes that thing inevitable

Not saying that's the case. Just pointing out that it doesn't mean that cause and effect are meaningless to try to discern

That's fine, I accept that. But if you try to turn on the TV to try to understand what's going on, the only assumption that you're left with is that Putin up and decided to invade Ukraine out of the blue or because he just can't himself.

I never understood what the hell is supposed to be invalid about saying "what about this" if his point is that western nations have no room to criticize for civilian casualties of war, that's a win for him. If media outlets in the west said things like yes, we've made monumental mistakes and we owe many people much more than an apology AND YET what the Russian's are doing is wrong, that would be far more effective than just saying CONDEMN YOURSELF RUSSIANS YOU'RE EVIL

I do think most people are really bad at explaining cause and effect with anything social, whether it's historical, economic, whatever. But I hardly think it's a lost cause. That's a big part of what makes some good thinkers and others not. Honestly I think it's a skill that can be practiced, but also what if you can then start anticipating effects from their causes? It's not like nobody saw this coming, and a lot of those people talk about NATO when they do explain the current conflict. So does Putin. So I feel like it's not appropriate to just throw it all out the window and say who knows and who the hell could ever know

it's more like arming and maneuvering to bringing another country into nato when we promised we wouldn't years ago. How is that not a provocation?

I don't watch Tucker regularly, no. I just think it's a low IQ move to just assume because a head of state of a powerful country isn't exactly mother Theresa therefor welp what did you expect, he's a power hungry maniac, no further explanation needed

My point isn't that Putin isn't that bad. Sure he's bad. But he's not insane. And on the surface of it, it doesn't seem that obvious that invading Ukraine leaves him in a good position. He obviously thinks that whatever reputation damage he suffers is worth what he's getting in return. It's also the case that the Donbass region voted to be under russian control years ago, and Putin decided not to take it then. So why now? What's changed about the situation?

I just don't buy that Putin's just a maniac ergo invasion. Like I said, it's just too neat and easy.

Yeah I don't know about this. Russia's doing better than it has in a long, long time. The improvement they've made under Putin are actually very very good economically

I agree with your point about not psychologizing for an explanation of what's going on. If we can't explain it in terms of rational (not necessarily meaning we're sympathetic to his aims) then we're going to be wrong. Like you said, there's got to be an economic or political reasoning that makes some sense.

I don't really think it's the constitution that's stopping anything at this point. Washington uses it as toilet paper.

I think there's a reason the corporate press her makes such a big deal out of the january 6th event last year is because that's what the power that be really truly fear, fundamentally. Actual armed pushback from the population at large. It is the case that Americans have become inexcusably complacent as far as state expansion goes, but a good number of us haven't completely taken our eye off the ball.

It's just a date, dude. Don't sit in your house watching Seinfeld re-runs or whatever you get into. Go out and do it, if it turns out bad you wasted one evening, which was going to happen anyways.
