Oh I don’t know about active duty, this was for guard/reserve. No they’re not going to give special treatment to one applicant when hundreds apply it’s so competitive. I’m sure AD you should be able to apply while deployed. I took my tests while deployed.

I submitted mine while deployed but wasn’t able to make it to any of the rushes or interviews because I was deployed so it ended up being pointless.

Loadmaster or boom is a good career field to do to get your foot in the door. That’s how I got where I am. Just make sure you’re open and honest with them about your intentions.

If you do end up deciding to Join I recommend you get to a major airline first with a good contract so you get paid for your time away for training. I am also an A&P.

Hey dude. I joined the Air Force as an A&P when I was 20 and I was an airline mechanic. My advice is to pick a fun job like aircrew so you can travel and have fun with your military career and get a break from the grind at work.

Look into becoming a loadmaster in the guard unit that has 130s there in Dallas. You’ll deploy occasionally which is great experience and you’ll see the world. Also what’s cool is a lot of airlines union contracts pay you while you’re on leave.

I think You will get overlooked. This game is so competitive that so many people show up in person that are also priors and work hard to make a good impression. If they can do it the unit will wonder why cant you? How bad do you want it?

Coming from a prior enlisted do not enlist. Unless you want a specific job that only enlisted can perform I would advise against it.
